I'm late to this one, just finished watching it. You have a knack for these interviews, Colin, very insightful. Thank you for the great content 👍

Liam Mcnulty

Thank you!

Colin Moriarty

LOL. <3

Colin Moriarty

I find it quite sad that IGN wrote up a news story attributed to this episode but couldn't mention Colin's name one time. If anything, it makes them look small and silly.

Zack Stein

What a great interview. I would love to see more developer stories like this. Great job, LSM!

Michael Hobbs

I like that they're speaking up, too.

Colin Moriarty

Thank you. <3

Colin Moriarty

Maybe he will!

Colin Moriarty

I think open worlds confuse content with life. It's a mistake.

Colin Moriarty

It's already quietly happening.

Colin Moriarty

I feel this way, too.

Colin Moriarty

Thank you!

Colin Moriarty

Definitely. He's well-equipped to start again.

Colin Moriarty

I appreciate your kind words.

Colin Moriarty

Thank you. <3

Colin Moriarty

True gamer Jim Ryan.

Colin Moriarty

Woulda been nice.

Colin Moriarty

Yeah, you gotta have a strong center, no doubt.

Colin Moriarty

Love that John and Jeff aren’t laying low. These conversations have given me a deeper appreciation for Days Gone, and I would have loved to see where they could’ve taken it next. Also, y’all are killing it with content recently. I’m always eagerly awaiting the next episode.

Joe Hammonds

Hey Colin, congrats on the scoop about the Sully spin off game that we could have got. Just thought someone oughta say it as VGC will get all the credit

Jeffrey Willingham

Awesome interview! Honestly if Jeff started a small team I would consider applying. Of course Jeff could probably acquire better talent then myself but I just really enjoyed his vibe, reminds me of my engineering TA.

Michael Buell

Been a day 1 fan of days gone and the one thing I really liked about it that I feel isn’t often expressed is the open world design. Nowadays most open world games are filled to the brim with pointless activities that in my opinion only make the map extremely clustered (looking at you Witcher and assassins creed) and don’t respect our time. With days gone their design choices had the opposite effect on me and I completed everything because it was clean, simple, and fun which I almost never do. I hope if Jeff gets another crack at a similar type of game he brings those same choices to it.

Adam

This confirms my theory that studios will be working together even more in the future.

james glenn roten

Awesome interview! Great work, as always, Colin! I'm really excited about what his future holds and what someone with his talent and experience can create. I'm sure it will be well worth the wait.

Cody Richter

Great interview as always Colin, have been waiting for this one since I witnessed the Jaffe interview, where Ross was stuck between a stoned Jaffe and drinking Garvin and could barely get a word in, no wonder he peaced out early. While that was a fun conversation, I was hungering for something more in-depth and informative like what you did here. Great job

thor magnusson

Great work Colin, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this. Fantastically well-structured and could not have asked better questions. Jeff has the quality of the best game directors as well as being very upfront and honest. This experience will result in an even better game next time around. Can’t wait to see what he works on next.

Gareth Handa

Superb stuff! You can really feel how conflicted he feels about leaving Bend even though it clearly was the best thing for him and his health. As expected you really asked some superb question with no messing about Colin 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Chris Walsh

Holy crap Colin. Great interview. Jeff handed out some neat nuggets. Sacred Symbols knocking it out of the park lately. Am sure the legacy media is jealous.

TrackyMatts

Sony will hire him if he tells Jim Ryan he wants to make a live service game and charge $70. Jim lying Ryan is going to turn to NFT’s next.

Lee Duncan

I was really excited for the idea of a more polished improved days gone 2 with even bigger and better horde fights on ps5 but I'm also hopeful about there new IP. Would hate to see Bend closed down I live in Oregon and can't think of any other big game companies here

Walker Simmons

Really Loved this one, by far my favorite interview. The thing that really sticks out to me, is how desperate it felt for the team at Bend to have a true “Leader”. I know he mentioned “Shot Caller”. But this is something that sounds like could really fix most of the issues at the studio. Sony should have stepped in and appointed someone. As someone who leads multiple teams in different areas of the country, the #1 focus is always ensuring each has a true leader to motive/inspire their team as well as holding them accountable. If you don’t have “The Quarterback” you will always end up losing… Regards, PS

Payton Stone

I'll admit, not as salacious as I'd thought it would be but that's only a good thing for Jeff and I do hope this kerfuffle lights a fire to get some Days Gone 2 talks started, or mend some fences. Lots of promise in that first game, just a slight miss but nothing that many other first offerings don't share and then subsequently rectify in the sequel. Thanks Colin, been waiting for this one.

The Rose Experience

Thanks for listening.

Colin Moriarty

Thank you kindly.

Colin Moriarty

Excellent. Days Gone didn't work for me when I initially tried it, but I've always been able to see there are pieces that I know I would ultimately appreciate and could possibly outweigh the aspects I didn't. I do look forward to giving it a more thorough allocation of my time and attention. The future seems really exciting for Jeff. I'm anticipating great things from him.

Stray_Bullets

Top-notch episode of SS+.

Matthew Deane

You're very welcome. Thanks for your support.

Colin Moriarty

Interesting.

Colin Moriarty

Dunno.

Colin Moriarty

Thank you for listening.

Colin Moriarty

It would have been cool to see them go back, but I think they earned their way out of their silo, too.

Colin Moriarty

He's a great guy.

Colin Moriarty

I really enjoyed this episode as someone from Bend and a fan of Syphon Filter/ Days Gone! Thanks for the awesome content, especially these interviews.

Cole Helgerson

Great interview! I’m positive Jeff said he was at Netherrealm when he first appeared on Jaffe’s show. So hearing him low-key saying it didn’t work out is a bummer. Love Netherrealm and was stoked when he said he joined, BUT I’m glad he still has ideas for the future.

Logan

I’m curious what John was worried about. ?

Dan Root

absolutely love days gone and jeff ross. dude is a class act. thanks for this episode. worth the wait.

Anthony P.

Considering their efforts on golden abyss it's a real shame the timing didn't like up for them to work on a proper console uncharted. If Ross and Garvin were still there now and I were Sony I'd definitely give them the chance to create the next uncharted, a bit like 343 and Halo (but hopefully more successful!).

Curtis (Bloobat)

Jeff Ross seems like such a down to earth dude. I’m happy he got some shine here because papa jaffe and garvin steamrolled his last appearance. I gotta say tho - the baffle mechanic he got rid of would have solved so many peoples gripe with the game- how do the freakers not hear those loud ass bikes? Great episode been looking forward to this. Stupid acquisitions!

Rage.Quit_Richard

Colin Moriarty

Been waiting for this! can't wait.

Anthony Mota

You're welcome.

Colin Moriarty

Me too, me too.

Colin Moriarty

LOL.

Colin Moriarty

I've been looking forward to delivering it.

Colin Moriarty

!!!

Colin Moriarty

Yes.

Colin Moriarty

Maybe it is.

Colin Moriarty

Enjoy. =)

Colin Moriarty

Thank you Colin

MJ SKA BOI

This was a fantastic episode. Days Gone was a great game in my opinion, nothing revolutionary, but a cool setting and some really really great open world gameplay loops/systems. Hordes were icing on top of the cake that made it unique. Bummed we won’t get a sequel, but really excited to see what Ross works on next

John

This whole time I thought you were talking about the comedian Jeff Ross.

Otrant

Been looking forward to this + episode

Niall G

Now is the time

RobTheButcher

Let’s go!!!!!!

Jonathan Alvarez

At first, I thought it was Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Al Rodriguez

At long last ;-) can't wait to listen !!
