Defining Duke Ultimate, Episode 59: The Dire State Of Halo Infinite ft. Chris Ray Gun (Video)

Halo Infinite's presentation, from menu music to its moment-to-moment gameplay, keeps me thoroughly engaged. But its Live Service design decisions and lack of basic content is both shocking and somewhat unforgivable. I want to enjoy this game, but it feels like aside from the competitive/e-sports side of things, there's little a casual fan can enjoy here at the moment.

This game and content schedule feels heavily mismanaged on Microsoft’s part and has me incredibly worried about their ability to handle Activision and Bethesda. Starting to really lose faith in the brand

To say Chris was in his bag this episode would be a disservice to him. He was spitting so much truth my lie detector broke. πŸ˜‚ (yes dad joke) but in all seriousness when he brings up the continuity of Bungie and the making of Halo 2 in 11 months in the face of extreme crunch. Just spot on. 343 needs to figure something up out because this development model is problematic.

Hello Mr. Ray Gun, I am excited to hear your hilarious take on the saga that is the Intellivision Amico. With Tommy Tallarico stepping down as CEO, and the platform’s ridiculous rule sets for devs, do you think this console will ever see the light of day? Keep up the great work! You are not alone Walker, I bought into Game Pass and Xcloud specifically cause I dont have good enough hardware for the game. Now I played a lot on Friday evenings as my newborn eats up a lot of time so it took me a while to come to the same conclusion as you, it just wasn't enticing and after the 3 control points post pelican shootdown It just felt like so much filler.

I played Halo infinite for a month and got bored because of the lack of content. I played the campaign and thought it was mediocre for 1$ on gamepass then cancelled. I wonder how many people out there are like me?

I know the numbers are low. There are articles all over the internet that actually get into the numbers, Trueachievements has one. Gamerant has one. "20 million people played Halo" means nothing to me because we don't know what that actually means? Do they count someone that played for 10 minutes and never touched it again because they didn't like it? 20 minutes? 1 hour? 5 hours? 12 hours? 24 hours? When you can get Gamepass for $1 it's not impressive to me. The barrier to entry like Chris said during their conversation is so low.

Andrew

20 million played it and less than 100k playing it now 14k on steam, and its position #13 on xbox live most played F2P suggest xbox numbers are low also.

There's a saying in the tech industry that goes something like... "Never buy tech based on promises of future (software) updates" because you don't really know if those updates will actually arrive or come to fruition. I've taken that and applied it to video games for years. I don't believe in early access, I don't believe in and personally don't get wrapped up in FOMO or hype. I just wonder in the big picture how forgiving people were of Halo Infinite at launch when reviewing the game because of the promises of updates and because they thought they would come quicker. I remember people at release being hesitant to criticize Halo Infinite it was always " so and so is an issue but..........' " The game is on Gamepass so......" I dunno. Xbox and MS benefited from all of this. They tout how "successful" Infinite is by bragging that "20 million people played Infinite" - whatever that actually means. I don't know... I'm rambling and all over the place. I'm not shocked by the issues Infinite has. People will say " well I had fun with the game and that's all that matters" but that's the problem lol. People accepted what they got so why would the devs rush to fix things? Unless players stop coming back or unless they stop accepting sub par products?
