Colin would love Yakuza: Like a Dragon. It's one of the best jrpgs I've played in years. Serious story presented in a completely bonkers style.

There's one thing that they could have done with Balan to make it at least a reasonably playable game... You can hold 3 suits at a time, if they had just assigned a button to each suit instead of forcing you to scroll through the suits and use one button to do everything, it might have been a more fluid experience. I think that they could have made something of the game if they gave it another year at least, and made some simple tweaks like this, but it would have never been better than a midtier game even if they had. The reverse draw distance thing is mostly because they don't want them to interact with the dancing characters, but they wanted them to be all through the world as decorations, so they basically made them fade out before you could interact with them. I don't find that to be particularly egregious, unlike the clumsiness of switching suits.

I'm not complaining, I understand why it had to happen the way it did. I'm not trying to place blame or even express discomfort. I can't even say that the list would have changed much in the best of circumstances. I just wanted to soften the inevitable tongue lashing we're going to get when you do the audience list episode.

The audience list was boring because of the two stage vote system (which is no ones fault it just ended up happening this way). Only like 7 of the games I voted for in my top 25 made it to the second list, and most of the ones that did make it were in the bottom half of my list. We had to pick 25 of our favorite games in the first vote and then the most common of them are going to make it to the second list, there's a big problem with this though. Since there was no way to rank the games on the first list, that means that only the most played games are going to make it to the second stage, not the most liked (generally). Just as an example, I know Nier was a lot of peoples number ones (based on the comments of the second stages vote post) and if it had made it to the second round I guarantee it would have been in the top 10, but I just ended up having to put 15-16 games in the bottom just because I hadn't played them at all, but I know they were incredibly popular. Anyway, great show as always!

Super excited to hear Chris’s journey through Yakuza throughout the next shows. Those games are a goldmine, amazing stories, insane and strange side quests, so many mini games, and a heart that you don’t see in games like that anymore. I spent like 30 hours on side content in that game and not a single second felt like a waste. That’s a series everyone should play at least one of.

Glad to see some more j.e.w. fans around. Their album surviving has been out for a while now and I feel like its their best in recent year and a return to the bleed american and futures years, it has that vibe.
