Sacred Symbols+, Episode 192: Colin's Top 25 PS4 Games

I (Colin) have made you wait long enough. It's time for you to get a look at my list of best PlayStation 4 games, also known as the best best-of list from our group, and certainly the one that's most right. I won't even spoil it for you by trying to describe anything. Hit play and listen or watch for yourself. And take notes, too, because these are 25 must-plays.

Sacred Symbols+, Episode 192: Colin's Top 25 PS4 Games

Comments

Colin, we need to talk about “The New Colussus”. I cannot comprehend why both lesser Wolfenstein games from the PS4 period where on your list but one of the best PS4 games(period) was not. In most cases we could argue that my opinion is subjective but that wouldn’t apply here. The New Colossus’s superiority over the other two is a fact that simply cannot be avoided by foolish opinions. Good day, sir!

Nikitas Gagas

Yeah, I love that book. Read it when I was younger.

Colin Moriarty

I rushed through Uncharted 4; I can't honestly speak to it.

Colin Moriarty

Anyone who is a fan of Remedy's Control should definitely check out the book "House of Leaves". It can be a tough read at times because of how it's narrated (and how it's physically laid out on the page), but absolutely worth it.

Kevin Cooper

Sorry but you not including Uncharted 4 on this list makes it completely invalid 😂. You put DAYS GONE on here before Uncharted 4 & God Of War. That honestly confused me lol. Maybe you forget to put it on your list

Chris T.

I think I got New Order's, but not Old Blood's.

Colin Moriarty

Thank you! Glad to have been a positive influence in this regard.

Colin Moriarty

Please do.

Colin Moriarty

Recently got the platinum for both New Order and Old Blood. Very, very good FPS's! I also feel your pain Colin, sad to know that we may never get a Machine Games or id software game again on PlayStation but we can hope!

Jack

Great episode. I love these kinds of episodes like knockback episode 100 because its fun hearing you talk about games you hold dear, your passion about certain games makes me want to replay a great game or even better gets me to play an awesome game that I have never played, or only played a little. Like I Am Setsuna, Shovel Knight, Fellseal, Ms. Pacman, Arcanoid and I am very grateful for that. This time it was Sacred symbols 200 that made me play The Last of us 2 again, and I liked it a whole lot more the second time. Spoilers ruined my first playthrogh, but hearing you talking about it, made me give it a second shot.

Theis Jensen

Completely missed this post. Gonna listen to this right after SS

Timothy Bryant

Machinegames love.

Colin Moriarty

Thanks. =)

Colin Moriarty

Appreciate the New Order shout-out. Edit: Really appreciate the Old Blood shout-out.

Noah Friscopp

Very solid list Colin!! I think one of the best things about Sacred Symbols is how different each of your gaming tastes are. I’m more in line with Colin than Chris or Dustin, but I appreciate each persons opinions. Always makes for better discussions.

Colin Moriarty

Fuck yeah! Knew Colin wouldnt disappoint with Days Gone!!! My fave ps4 exclusive

Simon

!!!

Colin Moriarty

Nah. Good game, though.

Colin Moriarty

It's a comparison that fits, no doubt.

Colin Moriarty

Thank you!

Colin Moriarty

Was hoping Infamous: Second Son would make it. Underrated imo

Brandon Soto

Yes!!! The Messenger!!

Dylan Paulson

Colin, somehow your 4 minute synopsis of TLOU Part 2 is the most powerful critique I’ve heard on the game and captures perfectly my admiration for something that is truly unique in the medium. Perhaps the first time I ever truly forgot I was playing a game, because its parts feel so distinctly human. Cheers and great ep.

Matthew Kincaid

I'd never heard Far Cry compared to an 80s action flick before but holy shit is that not the perfect analogy and that might explain why I love the series (80s action movies are probably my favorite genre of movie lol) so damn much.

Josh Gamez

Thank you. <3

Colin Moriarty

They don't quite look like my cup of tea, honestly, but I'd like to see more gameplay.

Colin Moriarty

The New Colossus sold softly because it wasn't as good, unfortunately. The marketing also kinda bought into the anti-MAGA gimmick, which I don't think anyone was really looking for.

Colin Moriarty

The pool is excellent. The pool store guy is kinda rude.

Colin Moriarty

I probably would have, yeah.

Colin Moriarty

That's not very nice. I quite liked recording this episode.

Colin Moriarty

Good.

Colin Moriarty

I thought it was pretty perfect as-is.

Colin Moriarty

Man dude. Your eloquence when talking about games is so awesome. When you mentioned about production per square inch for the last of us part 2, I felt that.

Will Hahn

(Responding to what you said about Fell Seal) I don’t know if you played that modern Shadowrun games on PC but they’re getting ported to console within the month and they’re supposed to be great. They’re Cyberpunk tactics games (better Cyberpunk vibe than 2077 lol) check it out if you’re looking for strategic tactics combat in that type of setting

Zack Forney

I'm really wondering if a new Wolfenstein game will actually be released. Loved both but I think New Colossus sold very soft and with the studio moving to Indianna Jones has me concerned. I know Pete Hines said it was coming but that was some time ago and things definitely change. I think Atomic Heart looked like it was definitely going to fill the void but with the invasion of Ukraine who knows if that studio will be able to release on console?

Benjamin Beyersdorf

The real secret is the puzzles were too difficult.

Jake Z

It was fun listening to everyone's list. Everyone not only plays different games but plays them in their unique kind of way, especially after listening to Micah's mailbag. I wonder how Red Dead Redemption 2 gets treated going forward. I believe it is one of the best games ever but it seems to get lost in the ether when the "greatest games ever" discussion ever comes up. More importantly, How is your pool? Are you best friends with the pool store guy yet?

Mitchell Lundsberg

I know you had the self imposed rule not to include games you hadn’t finished, but I’d be interested to know if any of the 3 of you would have included any games you didn’t finish if this rule didn’t apply? I’d guess not, as if you really liked the game you’d have finished it, but maybe you would have?

Rich Price

Every great series has their filler episodes. This is one of them.

Jorge Aponte

I guarantee the reason that God of War wasn’t on your list was because you knew it was going to be the biggest competition to The Last of Us 2 being number 1 on the list. You not putting God of War, the predicted winner, on your list helped alter the Top 25 list to help your pick. Very shrewd move, and pretty intelligent. But it’s also completely unacceptable to not have Uncharted 4 and God of War on your list. Back at Kinda Funny, you claimed Uncharted 4 was your favourite Uncharted game in the franchise. Not sure when your opinion changed on that but it’s a shame because it is superb. Huge fan of your podcasts! Much love and respect.

Robbie Agnew

I am prepared to be triggered. Lol

Ryan Zimm

Love TLOU2 like plenty of people but imagine how much better it would be if it had more than 4 hours of gameplay lol
