Colin you have to listen to their fourth album A Thousand Suns. It's their best album by far. A very political concept album. Please check it out front to back. It's awesome.

Tyler Cumerford

Ha, that's awesome. A serendipitous birthdate. Thank you for being here!

Colin Moriarty

That's a very cool memory.

Colin, listening to this episode i have realized you and I have a very similar taste in music, I fucking ADORE rap rock. Limp bizkit still sucks kicks ass! It was your shout out to hooray for boobies that convinced me we share a love for similar types of rap rock music. Also, my firstborn was born on 3.11 this year, which has caused me to deep dive into that band like I never had before. Anyways, great episode, knockback is entirely the reason I re-subscribed recently, and episodes like this prove why. Such a great show, keep it up!!

That turn-of-the-century time is mega-nostalgic for folks like us.

Chester Bennington RIP, I met him twice outside of music, just him being a normal guy, he came twice to the AMC movie theater I worked at at the time in 2004-2006s in Long Beach CA, he signed blank ticket stub, I still have it. I saw Chester and Billy Idol performing at the Grand Prix of Long Beach in 2017 and a couple of weeks later he passed. A great loss in the music biz but also personal because I connected to his music specially this album.

I was in high school when this came out, like Colin. (I am also 37) I bought it of some kid I knew selling PS1 ripped games and music CDs, $5 for this album, best $5 ever spent. This album is so much in feeling and so much of the moment of transition from late 90s to 2000s. I learned all the lyrics to every song. This album was the first album that was for me. I have a Cowboy Bebop/Linkin Park (With You) video on my old Sony PC. My crush in high school loved Linkin Park too. If I am not mistaken the band was named after a park in Santa Monica.

Metora is so much better in so many ways

Nothing on Hybrid Theory will mean anything other than what I thought it meant at 16-17.

Growing up my friend and I were listening to the album. “Yeah man, it reminds me of my fourth grade girlfriend. I tried so hard and got so far, but in the end it didn’t even matter.” What a musical masterpiece.

Thanks!

Stefan Catinella

Glad to be there for you. Be well!

I fell back into a constant anxiety state in the past weekend for the first time in years but this podcast and relistening to the album was medicinal today, thank you Colin! Day by day things can get better but knowing I can rely on these podcasts helps a ton. 👍👍

Colin Moriarty

Glad to hear it. =)

Grassroots, Blue Album, Soundsystem are all good starting points.

Colin Moriarty

Hey Colin, where should I start if I wanted to get into 311? It's not something I encountered growing up.

Stefan Catinella

I too skipped crawling, It was overplayed on MTV and the radio at the time.

Stefan Catinella

This album was ahead of its time and I still listen to it

KomakiKhaos

Yes!! =D

Brandon Breeland

Iconic album, still remember listening to singles at my friends house before release.

Stefan Catinella

Looking forward to this one, came out when I was 19 and I have so many memories tied to it :)
