Defining Duke, Episode 73: Is It Time to Cancel Xbox Game Pass?

Now, many are announcing their exit of Xbox's crown jewel: Game Pass. To make matters more interesting, Xbox Game Pass fanned the flames with a "dunk" on Kotaku bringing to light a potential weakness in their offering. So, joining the zeitgeist, is it truly time to cancel your subscription? The Duke have some thoughts on the matter. To make matters worse for some, it has been confirmed that Xbox turned down an exclusive deal with Marvel to work on their IP. As we know, PlayStation took that ball, ran with it, and now it is a major piece of the pie they offer fans. Is this a decision that Phil and his team regret? 2022-05-28 15:11:17 +0000 UTCIn the last 3 months I've played some of my favorite games of the past 10 years on Gamepass. I just beat Pschonaughts 2, Hellblade, Bugsnax and Fae Tactics. All were games I absolutely loved and would have never played without Gamepass. Pschonaughts 2 and Hellblade may both be in my top 10 or 15 games of all time. Gamepass is a fucking steal for me!

2022-05-28 09:50:34 +0000 UTCI think the huge amounts of acquisitions is two fold 1. Companies money is burning up in the bank due to this huge inflation. 2. companies want a huge payday for investors and may be open to acquisitions due to fiduciary obligations.

2022-05-26 17:03:52 +0000 UTCI think you might be thinking of Cod4 for grenade explosion radius, Semtex claymore throwing knife tac insert are the only primary equipments I remember seeing in multiplayer. Maybe the occasional c4. Not much frags and the Semtex didn’t have a huge explosion radius

Sorry bro I’m not getting the new PS+ tiers because I only want Triple A games, I’m doing it because I don’t see value in a bunch of mediocre games. 2022-05-26 16:29:09 +0000 UTCI ended my sub to Game Pass for PC simply because there wasn't anything on it I felt pressed to play that I didn't already own. I don't have anything against indy games, but they are not a draw for me to pay $15/mo for a service. The only thing that will get me to stay subbed is monthly drops of big AAA games.

Currently trying to finish up Dragon Quest XI S and TUNIC, then it's gonna be on to Her Story and Umurangi Generation. To me, if you say there's nothing on Game Pass for you, you just don't like indie games. TUNIC is easily in my GotY rankings, possibly beating out Elden Ring for #1.

I do think it's time to stop acting like they are going to find a cadence where their studios drop a quality game every quarter. Like it's a given some day.
