Defining Duke, Episode 75: Our Reactions To The Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022 (Video)

Howdy dukes! I couldn't help but notice that during both Xbox game showcase events they heavily featured the steam logo as a platform that their 1st and 3rd party games were releasing on. I cannot recall a time in the past they openly advertised for another platform at one of their Xbox events. Do you think this means Microsoft and Valves relationship is warming overtime? I think this is a far cry from game pass being hosted on steam but I think it interesting nonetheless. On a side note I got to say I respect the fuck out of you matty for keeping it 1000 with chat during the extended showcase stream. I hope you both have a solid day.

Cut out the middle 30 mins of updates and DLC for 4 year old games. This showcase goes from a solid C to a B+ even a A-. Less is sometimes more.

I'd give this conference a C. There were lots of cartoony looking games which is fine but not much really showed off the power of the console like Hellblade and impressed me. Starfield looks cool and ambitious but I hope the final game has more color and better combat it looked a bit dull. Was hoping for at least 1 suprise hype announcement like the return of Banjo or something but overall some cool games were shown

Perfect Dark wont be done in the next 12 months. Gears is also not in the next 12 months, They will probably talk about the next season of halo closer to when that is starting in the fall and they already put out all the info for the current season. So it would be pointless to rehash it.

Where was Halo? Where was Perfect Dark? Where is the clearly-going-to-happen Goldeneye remaster? Gears? There were huge major franchises completely missing from this and for that I was a bit disappointed. I think this is the deathnail for Infinite. They showed new Sea of Thieves and Grounded stuff but nothing for the franchise they slapped on the box of the Series X? Brutal. I just never could've imagined the biggest Halo news out of a 95 minute Microsoft showcase was essentially a Microsoft Flight Simulator mod.

I actually hope Playstation is now focusing all the efforts to the big blockbuster titles that they're known so well for now instead of indie games. The parts of the Xbox showcase people say (Cog and Matty included) was middling for them was the heavy indie stuff. It just confirms to me that months ago when everyone was giving Playstation flack due to that indie dev calling them out on Twitter for their lack of support was all lip service. People only want to see Triple AAA games. Highlighting them in any fashion just lowers fan hype it seems.

I wasn't too impressed with Starfield either. I'll definitely play it, but nothing in the gameplay reveal wowed me. It was exactly what I expected it to be and no more.

Never seen so much fanboy blindness for such an average showing from starfield. Gotta respect it. I guess i get the same way with gears of war or tlou 1
