Fireside Chats, Episode 100: A Conversation With Colin II

Episode 50 quickly went down as a fan-favorite, and with that in mind, I thought I'd do something similar for Episode 100. Once again, my girlfriend Erin sits in to ask me questions, and not surprisingly, we touch on quite a few topics: Finding happiness in the world, coming to terms with who you are, seeking out analog activities in a digital world, the ups and downs of living a largely reclusive life, and more. Fireside Chats is officially the first CLS product to reach 100 episodes, and it simply wouldn't be possible without you. Thank you.

While I can't help but wonder what that extra "wasted" time could have amounted to, I'm not one that really wishes to go back and redo stuff, even if I'd be interested in what would have happened. Like I said on the show, it answered a fundamental question for me, and it also put me on this path. So all is well!

But I do enjoy 1 thing that totally helped me in my anxieties in life. Brazilian Jiu jitsu. Truly an amazing passion of mine now. It really helped my get through some tough times. It plays on my vide game mind, lots of problem solving, troubleshooting and analyizing within a 3d Human chess style experience. I truly recommend it if you felt like attempting to tackle jumping out of comfort zone for some challenges. I truly think your mind would love it and hook you in.

I've been formulating similar thoughts in my own head to tell to dog lovers, because too often they default to an anti-cat stance without having much experience with them. I adopted a kitty last year and watching her grow up with me and my partner (lol) has been so incredible. I've made similar observations about them being very smart and very human-like in their personality. My cat will act cute when she wants to cuddle, look when I point at something, gets visibly sad when we leave the house and very excited when we come back. She knows when she's doing something she's not allowed and acts like a toddler when she gets caught. If I talk to her, she'll pick up on the tone of my voice, look me in the eyes and make a conversational meow back. At the same time, she's her own being, does her own thing and doesn't always want constant attention, much like any person.

Without any other knowledge of your life and the timeline of events, I genuinely believe that the initial experiment of producing that content ultimately opened up the pathway for you to arrive at and create the shows that allow you to work with your amazing brother Dagan and the talented Chris Ray Gun. I fully understand that I’m just a “dude on the internet” but I thoroughly enjoy your shows and my life is better because of them. The spirit of Knockback has allowed me to connect with people in ways I never had in my life before. It sparked my curiosity and spurred me to have conversations with my grandfather about his youth and his experiences. Additionally, the show has opened up my worldview and even helped me to remember some my own special childhood moments. I literally look forward to Tuesday’s , Wednesday’s and Thursday’s because of your shows Colin and for that I can’t thank you enough. Cheers!
