Patreons IOS Pricing Changes & What It Means For You!

Hey everyone,
Some of you may have heard the recent news about Patreon and Apple. In short, Apple is now requiring Patreon to use their payment processing system for any purchases made through the Patreon iOS app, including subscriptions. Unfortunately, this means Apple will take a 30% cut of those transactions.
How this affects you:
Current paid subscribers: No changes. You won’t be affected by this.
Subscribing through Patreon’s website or on an Android device: No changes. You’ll continue to pay the same amount.
Subscribing via the Patreon iOS app (starting November 2024): Your charge will be higher to account for Apple’s 30% fee.
This doesn’t mean you can’t use Apple products; it just means that if you want to avoid the 30% fee, you should subscribe directly through Patreon’s website starting in November.
I don’t expect this change to have much of an impact on the platform or my Patreon specifically, as I’ll make sure to include clear warnings in my advertisements about the iOS app surcharge. The last thing I want is for any of you to end up paying more unnecessarily.
