In fact, it's one of the best-received films of 2010, an Academy Award-winning mind-melter all about entering people's dreams in order to acquire restricted, secretive, and sensitive information. But what if you could plant entire ideas in people's heads, too, setting in motion an unstoppable butterfly effect? As voted on by Colin's Last Stand's Patrons, this episode of KnockBack is all about this notable and unusual flick, the remarkable performances throughout it, and a story so complex that it sometimes borders on convoluted. But the most memorable thing to me about Inception is after I saw it I went to a friend’s house whose mom had seen it. We asked her if she enjoyed the movie and she said “it would have been better if there wasn’t so much sleeping in it.” My friend and I both could not help but crack up at her statement.

Couple of things to note - i) movie (similar to Dunkirk) was designed to be watched in the cinema, I remember being blown away by the sound and visuals ii) I think Colin and Dagan missed that Cobb originally did the inception on Mal to persuade her to come out of the dream world, this consumed her and she committed suicide as she still felt they were still in the dreamworld iii) Cillian is pronounced Killian

Like clockwork. Don't know if it was just because my brain was rested but, I am convinced my mind continues working the parts out throughout the night.

2020-08-21 19:59:20 +0000 UTCOne of the moments I really enjoyed was the manufactured catharsis of Cillian Murphy's character (Fischer). It was so well acted and moving in its own right, like something we'd see in a film. Yet at the same time the audience is in on the irony that it's all fake, designed to manipulate for the ultimate inception. For me, its like drawing back the curtain on the writing process. It's exactly what a fiction writer attempts to do in their stories. You could possibly take the film as choosing to leave your dreams and accept what the real world is offering you.

One of the characters pulls the photo out of Robert's wallet and says something like "could come in useful later". I took it as being planted in the safe to further make the idea stick as it gives Robert a bit of catharsis with his Father.

In the dream world he has it on, and in the real world, it's off. From the moment the team wakes up on the plane, Cobbs left hand is never shown, so you can't see if it's on or off. drives me crazy

2020-08-15 02:26:49 +0000 UTCHi Colin & Dagan, first time writing in for this, but I just had to mention something I felt was really important to the story I think you may have missed; Cobb and Mal did spend decades in their own constructed dream worlds, and grew old together. Eventually Cobb wanted to return to reality, but Mal didn't. When she refused, Cobb then performed inception on Mal, by messing with her Totem, spinning it. (This is shown in the movie, as it's locked in a chest in her old neighbourhood house) So basically Cobb "planted" an idea within Mal during a dream, and this is how he knew inception was possible, when the other crew members thought that it wasn't. Because Mal had her Totem messed with, she never believed what was real anymore. She wanted to wake up, and so she framed Cobb for her murder before she died, in order to force him to jump with her so he would wake up too. She jumped to her death, and this haunts Cobb's subconscious, as he's the reason for her death. Maybe you guys did know this, but I feel it wasn't mentioned and to me is such a pillar to the structure of the story! Anyways, hope you guys are good! -Darren

2020-08-15 00:01:03 +0000 UTCFantastic film. I always had an alternative perspective on the plot. I think Mal was right and the whole film is in a dream. The ending of the film is not Cobb falling into the dream, but the first time in the film he is truly awake and able to return to reality. This plays into the fantastical world that Cobb is a part of. As Colin mentioned, the world is our world, except the widespread dream sharing is completely fantastical. Corporations that can buy airlines and convince their competitors to split up a company. Mal in Cobb’s subconscious is attempting to wake him up. She is trying to tell him that he is dreaming, but he is suppressing the truth. Every line Mal speak in any version is telling him this. And as for the totem, if I remember correctly, we only see it fall once. All other times are tumbles or off screen or we cut before it can fall. Maybe I’m totally wrong, but interesting to hear other perspectives!

There were reports of fairies dropping dead for unknown reasons. The only clue was that their dying words were to curse the moriarty brothers. Based on old celtic runes found on an abandoned island off the coast of donegal it is said that miss pronouncing the name Cillian does in fact kill fairies. I was unfortunate to witness this in my own back garden. Needless to say it wasnt pretty. Another great episode fellas. Keep up the great work.

I work for SpaceX and we recently conducted a 150m “hop” of our prototype Starship which is intended to be able to carry 100 people at a time to the red planet for colonization. Here’s the hop using a single Raptor engine (I helped make it) https://youtu.be/s1HA9LlFNM0 my question is this: If you had a ticket to go and had the weight limit luxury of bringing a vita or other gaming device and somehow didn’t have to worry about powering it for the 4-6 months of one way travel time what games would you be loading it with to pass the time? We all know you probably won’t be trying to mix it up too much with your 99 other fellow travelers (couldn’t blame you there). Comfort food games? RPGs? Any game that you can get off the store is valid including ps2 games etc. To Mars!

From my read of the film, very few are aware of the ability to access the subconscious via dreams - Ellen being introduced to the idea, the old people locked away in a dream state in Africa, etc. 2. The anime "Paprika" is often cited as being very similar thematically, if not a source of inspiration for Inception. 3. Big Chris did mention at one point wanting to develop a videogame in an interview with Variety, Nolan said “one thing we are looking at doing is developing a video game based on the world of the film, which has all kinds of ideas that you can’t fit into a feature film. That’s something we’ve been talking about and are looking at doing long-term, in a couple of years.” which obviously never happened, but man, I wonder how far along this idea got.

When he does it, try yelping as loudly as you can, that's the reaction the other puppies in his litter would have given him and you doing that will continue his learning. Also, when you are playing with him, have a toy in your hand, if he nips, say no. When he stops, give him the toy and praise him when he plays with that. It redirects him to the appropriate thing to chew on and gives him positive reinforcement as well.
