Sacred Symbols+, Episode LXXIV: Final Fantasy VII Remake Spoilercast and Review Discussion

You've been so patient! But now it's time. As you may recall, Final Fantasy VII Remake came to PlayStation 4 this past April, and we never got around to doing what is no doubt an essential spoilercast and review discussion, since life intervenes, as it sometimes does. Yet, we promised we'd get you one before 2020 turned into 2021, and, well... here we are! Square Enix's reimagined journey of Cloud, Tifa, Barret, and company, is nothing short of astounding. Any doubters were wrong: This game is the absolute real deal, and if anything, we can't wait to see the sequel. Until then, though, let's chat about what we've got now: Avalanche, ecoterrorism, Sephiroth, Shinra, and so much more.

Sacred Symbols+, Episode LXXIV: Final Fantasy VII Remake Spoilercast and Review Discussion

Comments

Just finished this game for the first time and immediately had to listen to this one.

vastneon

Funny how the snark tank names haven't infiltrated comments yet

Tyler Kottmyer

man why would you spoil Aerith's death like that😭😭😭 i imagine there's a few members who haven't played the original

Aibeck Sazanov

Just finished this game for the first time and had to listen to you guys thoughts. I agree with your take on Barrett but I also think Wedge is fucking awful. Outside those two characters the game is awesome though! Incredible combat and I love the Materia system. Also agree that they should let us romance one of the ladies.

Colton McKinney

I strongly, strongly disagree that Barret was written to be more cartoonish in Remake versus the OG. This is a very common thing that people say but it's revisionist and stems from people misremembering how the OG really was. In the OG there are scenes where Barrett PUNCHES members of the party, and he is constantly dropping expletives, shaking his fist at the sky like popeye and shooting everything. It's perfectly fine to say that the character could've been written better in Remake, but I think it's incorrect to say that it was an exaggerated version of the character written in 1997. He was recreated faithfully and he ought to have been, IMO. Anyway I enjoyed listening. You guys analysed the game very well, apart from that part. I agree that the padded sections of the game were the worst parts of the game, and a total unforced error.

I think they will use the DLC option to download remake part 2 which will already have your save etc ready to go. Possibly disc option as well but remember how much hassle they had getting this out for part 1.

Fair enough.

Colin Moriarty

Sorry you don't like it. =\

Colin Moriarty

Thank you. =)

Colin Moriarty

Visually, I can see that. They could have massaged him in the remake.

Colin Moriarty

<3

Colin Moriarty

Fair enough!

Colin Moriarty

Appreciate this discussion!! Just a minor correction or personal viewpoint: a lot of emphasis is put on having to play Crisis Core in this discussion. Simply not true, the Zack elements are all brought out in the original FF7. Crisis Core simply expands on that, but it’s very standalone in FF7.

Eebo85

Im playing it right now. I like the combat and graphics but everything else is a steaming pile of shit. The music is so bad I just finally turned it off. The dialoguebis beyond cringe. The way they animated the characters in that stupid ass weeb way is nauseating. I imagine if someone played this when they were 10 then they think its a deep story but it isnt. I wish I didnt buy it.

jordan allen burton

Well worth the wait

Oliver Johnson

I’m not sure if you’ve heard it already but Barret’s character was originally and still today, based off Mr. T. So the fact that Dustin drew that line is impressive in a way, although I agree it’s cringe at times. But in the original remember he would shoot dozens of rounds into walls and ceilings whenever he was upset lol so he definitely has always been a hothead to me. Great episode!

Chuck Rude

Definitely be organic and I enjoyed the listen just not sure exactly what was spoiled in the discussion is all. I don't listen to many spoiler casts here but was really looking forward to this one after all the hype to hearthe theories you had regarding the story and how it related to the 1st game. Wasn't trying to come off as telling you guys how to do your show šŸ‘

Evan Erickson

Oh no Col you're good. I was literally just pointing it might be good to pull that before public feeds go live. I genuinely only pointed it out if it was missed. I'm sure he didn't its one of those words you dont even learn the meaning behind until way after its been added to your vocabulary. I've lived all over the world and know Americans are actually some of the least racist people on this earth even the super ignorant ones. I know Dustin didn't mean it derogatorily but you especially know intent doesn't matter to a lot of other people.

Erik Peterson

If you read the comments here, you'll see that there are a wide variance of opinions. I'm truly sorry you didn't like it, though. I fully expected not to.

Colin Moriarty

The ending left something to be desired, but I still thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience.

Colin Moriarty

Where did you play Crisis Core?

Colin Moriarty

I suppose.

Colin Moriarty

We're always going to be as organic as we can; we don't -need- to do anything. We can't please everyone, but we do our best.

Colin Moriarty

I guess. They shouldn't have called it Remake then. =D

Colin Moriarty

I do my best!

Colin Moriarty

It doesn't end as well as it begins, but it's a great game, no doubt.

Colin Moriarty

It's near the top for me, too.

Colin Moriarty

I like it in low-res. =\

Colin Moriarty

Yeah, I'm confused.

Colin Moriarty

Just edit your original comment next time. <3

Colin Moriarty

I'm anti-having to watch a bunch of other shit to understand.

Colin Moriarty

<3

Colin Moriarty

I'd like to play on Hard in the future. I sent my final save to the cloud (pardon the pun) to keep it safe.

Colin Moriarty

What about him.

Colin Moriarty

Yeah, it seems like a clever back door, which is... well... certainly cool in its own right.

Colin Moriarty

My main gripe is elementary: If it's not a real remake, they shouldn't bait-and-switch. It's kind of weird, though it does lessen the blow of perhaps not having played the original (for those out there who haven't).

Colin Moriarty

Wall of text. Also, that's too deep for me.

Colin Moriarty

Yes! Switching between the characters was a joy. I liked it too, and wish I realized earlier how useful Tifa is.

Colin Moriarty

I do think it lost a bit of its luster in the end, but the journey was awesome.

Colin Moriarty

I like the English performances, for the most part...

Colin Moriarty

I feel like it's not all his choice, but who knows.

Colin Moriarty

Roche definitely came up!

Colin Moriarty

Chadley is interesting. He did come up, no?

Colin Moriarty

I appreciate your first sentence. Clever. =)

Colin Moriarty

A Festivus miracle.

Colin Moriarty

It isn't.

Colin Moriarty

Correct.

Colin Moriarty

Yeah, it seems to really be some sort of butterfly effect-like sequel.

Colin Moriarty

Yeah, THAT is the stupid shit we're talking about, though. Focus the game and its story into places where people will actually experience it! It's dumb, otherwise.

Colin Moriarty

This is definitely up there for me, too.

Colin Moriarty

Technically, it's already happened.

Colin Moriarty

Enjoy!

Colin Moriarty

I promise you that Dustin doesn't mean the word as an anti-Roma slight... nor does anyone today, I would think.

Colin Moriarty

I've not heard anything about Crisis Core coming back, though that would be nice. Really, if you go back to the game -- which I also loved (and wrote the strategy guide for!) -- it holds up in gameplay, but not in aesthetic. You'd have to assume a 'remake' (not a AAA one) would be in order. With how this game ties into that one so intimately, you have to assume there's a plan there...

Colin Moriarty

=\ =)

Colin Moriarty

It's so good!

Colin Moriarty

You're very welcome!

Colin Moriarty

They did. But when are the haters ever right?

Colin Moriarty

You're welcome!

Colin Moriarty

That it can.

Colin Moriarty

Thanks for being here!

Colin Moriarty

That's correct.

Colin Moriarty

I know. Heh.

Colin Moriarty

Me too!

Colin Moriarty

I must deliver.

Colin Moriarty

*nods*

Colin Moriarty

Yes.

Colin Moriarty

Well, we did a KnockBack on the original. =)

Colin Moriarty

I was honestly shocked that Colin did not have MAJOR problems with this game from a narrative perspective, because this may be the most epic jumping the shark that a game has ever done!!! One of the key themes of FF7, in my eyes, is the ACCEPTANCE of death in our lives as individuals and its place in the fate of the planet as a whole. To twist this theme to one of the REJECTION of fate and the removal of stakes completely corrupts the original story and the intent of Hironobu Sakaguchi, who had been quoted as stating one of the inspirations for the story was dealing with the death of his mother. Sephiroth in the original game is a menacing, scary character who you barely see during the Midgar section, In the remake he's all over the damn place! You work your ass off to get to the top of the shinra tower, fighting off an evil all powerful organization only to find someone easily laid waste to these fools leaving only a trail of blood to follow, ratcheting up the tension to the max. None of that delicious tension is in the remake. Oh, and that plate falling? Didn't kill anyone, everybody survives apparently, except for Jessie so there are essentially no stakes. Ridiculous... I went into FF7 remake excited to see a remake of the original, akin to a revival or a Shakespeare play with modern players. What we got was roughly the equivalent to watching Romeo and Juliet and at the end rather than drinking poison, the star crossed lovers made a TikTok dance video instead. Its definitely different, but is it better than the original? Does it improve the source material? That's a big negativo ghost rider!!! As beautiful as it looks, and as cool as the expansion of some of the "slice of life" Midgar stuff was (the Jessie home dinner mission is the best part of the game IMO). Every other change is a massive downgrade from the original. Square took their most beloved work and changed it into some convoluted Kingdom Hearts/Advent Children bullshit, it's just really disappointing.

Scot CRUICKSHANK

That’s when I realized I hated this game. Why convolute an already complex story?

bix hutch

I love FF7 and it’s one of my favorite games of all time. I really couldn’t believe what a great job they did with this game. Early on I loved everything I was seeing although Sephiroth was a red flag early on. But the combat and extended character storys were great. But as Sephiroth kept appearing I was starting to see some big story problems. He was behaving very out of character. He was very menacing through the first two third’s of the original. He said very little. You’re mostly following his footsteps and seeing the horror he leaves in his tracks.( finding the sword in the shina president, the bloody murder scene he leaves through out the shinra building and the massive cobra pierced by the giant stake). There is nothing menacing about him here and he comes off as a Kingdom Hearts villain who’s constantly teasing you. Just a very bad adaptation of the most famous video game character. As the story continued I still loved everything else. The new characters gave life to Midgar, the city is beautifully realized and the side missions were fun to me. But then we get to the end and I’m honestly shocked Colin has no issues here. It should end with the main 5 characters escaping midgar and it feels like the world is going to open up. You can finally explore this world with your core cast. Buuuuuut Instead we get this convoluted mess of boss rush battles that gos on way too long. Instead of feeling like your journey is just starting you’re watching midgar get sucked up into these time tornadoes and again we get this Kingdom Hearts style zaniness that just doesn’t fit with where this story is going right after this. Avalanche and sector 7 basically all live giving no weight to Shinra sacrificing all these poor people to control the public narrative against Cloud and the rest. They just ruined so much of this story and took away all the weight and mystery of Sephiroth and the terror that Sephiroth is leaving behind for you to find. How do people not have a problem with this love child of the Matrix and Kingdom Hearts ending? They convoluted an already complex story and something tells me Tifa will die instead of Aerith. And not being able to control RedXIII when he follows your party for like 4 hours didn’t feel right either (he’s also a little small). I just honestly hated the last 4 hours so much.

bix hutch

I was new to FF7 when I played remake, since then I’ve gone back played the original, played Crisis Core and Advent Children. I think the guys missed the major plot of Sephiroth seemingly being ā€œAdvent Childrenā€ Sephiroth travelling back through the Life Stream to play around with the timeline, to manipulate events in his favour

Joshua La Rosa

I understood the ending as sephiroth knows ff7 happened and hes going back in time to undo it.

matthew

I agree, at first I thought she was into him. But I felt like as time went on she was being sarcastic and messing with him too.

matthew

Good listen but you guys need to dive deeper into specific story beats. No discussion on specific things they changed, added etc.

Evan Erickson

As others said above - FF7R is a sequel.

Max Davis

Truly glad to see this posted in 2020. Thanks for being a man of your word, Colin.

Matthew Thomas Andrews

The answer is obvious. Jesse was a blip on the radar in regards to the PSone version of the game. By focusing squarely on the Midgar section, they needed to rethink her role. Barret is a mainstay for this chapter and all future, so completely changing him would have been a bridge too far I imagine.

The Eclectic Gamer

I think they were fair in their review. Chapters 1-16 were a great time, but the next game will be lucky to be half as commercially successful as this first one. Especially if the story is going down some alternate timeline Nomura hellscape.

Bos10George

FF7 Remake is my game of the year, I really like this game. I'm okay with the story take a bit of different turn, I already played the original ff7 on psone.

Anis

Hey Colin, what would you say to final fantasy 3 / 6 was remastered with the same pixel art but uprezed to look amazing? Gotta keep the same story though. Are pixel art programmers that far and between? Doesn’t square have a studio that specialized in that?

Michael Thew

You learn about Zack’s death in the original FFVII too, it’s not just in Crisis Core. It looks way better in Crisis Core obviously but it’s still there in FFVII. The scene where they’re showing Zack survived is in a alternate universe from the one we play in FFVII remake, showcased by different dog logo on the bag that flies across the screen. I believe they’re trying to say that them defeating fate has an effect on every timeline.

Josh Lucas

Dustin, Leslie isn’t ā€œa new nomura characterā€ he’s from the final fantasy VII book ā€œOn the way to smileā€. Same goes for the girl Kyrie. Sorry for leaving several comments, just wanted to make sure I left all my thoughts without forgetting anything.

Christian Longo

the purpose of the larger organized uniformed avalanche group is to show that Rufus is still funding them to undermine his father, which was reveled in the Mobile game Before Crisis.

Christian Longo

seems like your guys issues with Barret spawn from the OG, he seemed pretty spot on to me.

Christian Longo

advent children is very important colin, a lot of hints in Remake that Sephiroth has returned from the point after the end of Advent Children.

Christian Longo

Idk man I don't think Jessie is trying to hard. To me she seems to be totally fucking with Cloud the whole time she comes off as very manipulative but still I agree with the person who wrote in she is best girl.

Empty Symbol

Thank you Colin, 2020 is now complete. :)

Sean Waters

That was my thought too, that it was post-advent children Sephrioth trying to correct his failures from the PSX FF7. Might be a nice plot twist if Sephiroth knows humans die off at the end of the original FF7 and he's actually trying to save humanity for the bad ending of the original FF7.

CrispyBacon

Great episode guys as always. Since neither of you played it on hard you wouldn’t know but it was one of the most challenging Platinum trophies I ever got. On hard, you cannot use any items and your mana does not regenerate when you sit at benches only between chapters or by getting lucky hitting random crates.

Joe West

Al Gore...

Erk-Prime

I love these theories so much. But The part about the 3 ghosts being the 3 characters is heavily disputed. And the alternative and how it links to advance children is insanely cool. Imo i’ll link you to one of the podcast that does a great job of explaining it. That particular theory starts around the 22 minute mark. https://youtu.be/h3Ex8ILaJAA I have a few other links to some other podcast but I found this one has some great reference material early on that help cooperate the theories. I can link the others if you’re interested. Sorry another edit to skip to the part of the discussion about the ending. skip forward to around the 48 minute mark.

Link

Bingo! That’s exactly it. They knew that they couldn’t remake it beat for beat and needed to make changes. Nomura said that Sephiroth has ascended to a higher form of being, and we can assume that he’s trying to mess up the timeline so that he doesn’t get defeated, and allows the developers to update the game.

So here’s the deal, as you play the game you are playing out the events of the original. Whenever things start to happen that are different than that timeline the ā€œplot ghostsā€ get involved to correct it. You get to the end and you fight the three ghosts which are actually versions of the characters from the original timeline trying desperately to make the events of the first game happen but you defeat them. Sephiroth is a there because he is from the future (past?) and is pulling the strings for you to change the timeline because he knows if things go the same as the original timeline he loses. So his only chance at victory for him is to change the events of the timeline so he has another chance for his original plans. At the end the logo on the flyer is different with a different dog than was showed earlier in the game clearly showing the characters are now on a different timeline than the original. I think going forward you are going to encounter similar areas and characters with different events taking place. The developers are no longer hamstrung to making a 1:1 remake, I’m excited, should be awesome šŸ‘ āœŒļøā¤ļø

leaf lettuce

I agree that one of the most interesting takes on this game and its future is the take that suggests this game is a sequel disguised as a remake, especially based on the implications from the ending and with Sephiroth essentially being omniscient of the events of OG FF7 (seemingly Aerith too). Whispers' struggle is very meta lol: fans vs. devs, old vs. new. I think these changes will help keep us more interested in the subsequent parts as we wait an eternity for them vs. if the remake was beat-for-beat. Also, there's a story in this video by Maximillian_DOOD, (skip to 8:06: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OalvWEJCZBA) who shares the above opinion, where Kitase and the designers essentially said they watch his videos. Many things Max suggests are fantastic, as it's his favorite game of all time, so it gives me further hope that not only is it in the hands of veteran staff and fans-turned-staff but huge fans like Max and his community. I believe Max has a video discussing his thoughts on the ending on his YouTube for anyone interested in his analysis. And no, I don't believe the black-winged Sephiroth is at the end of FF7'97. You're probably thinking of Safer Sephiroth which is essentially a white angel. Don't even think the black wing is in OG FF7, just Advent Children. Also just want to confirm that Kitase said that despite however we perceive the ending of the Remake, the saga will follow the main plot of the original. It just might be done differently (https://www.gamespot.com/articles/final-fantasy-7-remake-wont-drastically-change-the/1100-6476590/). Stray thoughts... Just want to say all the bosses were awesome. They really tested you on the mechanics of the game. Especially liked the end game bosses of Rufus, Jenova, and yes Sephiroth (left an exciting last impression). As for Leslie, I assume he will return and be developed more. Good ol' Nomura...

Dylan Neves

This game isn't a remake rather than an alternate reality. How I see it is that two people know that there's an alternate reality, that being Arith and Sephiroth. Sephiroth knows that if he waits around he's going to lose, so he's trying to break Cloud's mind early and gets more involved like killing Barret. And how in a scene that you can get if you do certain quests in a certain order, Arith is well aware of her death and doesn't want Cloud to fall in love with her because she knows what will happen. But the phantoms are the keeper of the original timeline. Whenever anyone tries to go too far away from the script or does something that makes more sense than what happen in the original, they step in to correct it or prevent things from happening. For example, when Jessie wanted to go to the second bombing mission they broke her ankle to ensure she doesn't. When Cloud and the gang had plenty of time to stop the explosion of the pillar, they stopped it. When Cloud tried to save Jessie and Biggs they stopped him, and tried to kill Wedge when he still survived and in the end corrected the mistake of him living. When Cloud saw the chamber that makes him start to remember who is was they blow him away. When Sephiroth killed Barret they saved him. When Cloud decided to fight it so that they can make their own destiny and make their own decisions and killed the monster, they did what Sephiroth wanted and Sephiroth decided to try to end them once and for all but instead made them a bit stronger, so he let them go now that he knows their plot armor is gone and he can plan another approach. I'm sure that's the plan with this remake because of Ariths explanation and the visions of the future during the phantom boss like Red running in the canyon that we see in the original FF7. I like this approach better because it's telling us the original is still Canon and that this isn't like the way it was meant to be.

FluffyNeko

ā€œI thought you were threatening me for a second.ā€ Col, your video voice made that sound so legit. šŸ˜… I loved how well they made each of the characters play. Barrett was my fave to play as purely for the range and damage, and I didn’t even realize this until the section where you’re forced to play as him. The only fights that gave me trouble were Tonberry (fuck that Instakill) and then Hell House because I didn’t figure out the weaknesses properly. To Dustin’s point, I actually thought Leslie was a cool character. Nice little side story. I was expecting to see him do some cool battle stuff but nope.

NeO JD

I really enjoyed the game up until the end. I feel like they really blew it with that ending and lead up. They forced sephiroth and brought him in way too early and often. Part of what made him great was that he was a bit more mysterious, unknown, and powerful. Im glad a lot of people enjoyed it, but after that abysmal ending I don't think I'll be continuing the journey.

Paul Knickerbocker

You goooottta play the game in Japanese. Such a better experience.

Michael

I’m grateful for nomura for being the designer of all of our favorite characters, but I am not a fan of him as a storyteller or a game director. Not to mention he jumps from project to project... he was talking about making FF13 versus now...

Kenneth Oms

Ok just finished up, loved it, thank you all so very much for doing this and reading my question šŸ™‹šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø Only thing is did you all discuss Roche at all? I was busy doing some invoicing while listening so I might have missed it but I don’t recall hearing his name... Anyhoo, thanks again Colin for powering through, it’s in my top contenders for GOTY for me so appreciate hearing both of your all’s input. Happy New Year Gents!

Brock Smith

Colin this was well worth the wait to hear your thoughts. Your opinions on Final Fantasy are essential!!! Excellent spoiler cast. My only gripe is you guys didn't have an extensive discussion about Chadley!!! His backstory/subplot is very intriguing. And to answer Dustin's question at the end - Leslie Kyle is a character from the 2011 novel Final Fantasy VII The Kids Are Alright: A Turks Side Story. The character Kyrie Canaan is also from that novel and appears in this game.

Andres

Dear C and D, Only fitting that the CLS spoilercast for FF7R take forever to come out, just like the game. I just wanted to give some perspective on the naming convention and confusion. Remake is kind of cheeky double meaning. Not only is it a remake from the Devs, but post Advent Children Sephiroth is literally coming back in time to reshape (remake) the events of the original game. He tricks you into defeating destiny itself so he can potentially change his fate. So even though the game makes radical changes, the title of ā€œremakeā€ still fits completely.

Cody Raburn

Oh shit it really is a Christmas miracle!

KomakiKhaos

Please tell me this is Colin and Chris. PLEASE.

Derek Waechter

It’s a Christmas miracle!

Zachary Parsley

Great talk, guys. And thanks for reading my comment! Truth is, I HATED the plot ghosts from start to finish, but it wasn't until subsequent playthroughs that I realized what this remake is. It's not just a 3D action RPG recreation of the original, it's a spiritual sequel 'what if' that combines aspects of the past 20 years of FFVII, including the original game, Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus and Crisis Core. After getting the Platinum and being in literal tears, I'm SO excited to see what happens next. I do think the plot ghosts implementation was odd and clunky (and this is from a KH fan!), but what they represent is compelling.

JusticeSoulTuna

This game is confirmed as a sequel in the FF7R ultimania. They confirm the sephiroth that is accompanied by black feathers or wing is the sephiroth post advent children(the ff7 movie) that has somehow managed to make himself appear in the past (most likely through the lifestream). Basically the ghosts appear when sephiroth is using his influence to try and affect destiny/the original timeline of ff7. The sephiroth that acts like a ragdoll are the sephiroth clones that you see in the black cloaks with numbers on them. Those clones are being controller by the sephiroth in the northern crater to bring him jenova just like in the original. To clear up the confusion about sephiroth, he doesn't get his black wing until he fuses with jenova's head in advent children. The wing that colin remembers from the og game is from his form called Safer Sephiroth where he has the red wing. Sorry to nerd out on you guys.

Love this episode and so happy you enjoyed the game Colin. The expansion of Avalanche is from the compilation game ( I think a phone game) actually the larger avalanche plot is so interesting, but I won’t spoil it in case they do something with it later on. Also if you so choose the platinum made me love the game even more, although you have to do another play through my goodness hard mode is such a treat.

Ryan Harvey

This was tied with TLOU for GOTY for me. TLOU for the experience, this for the gameplay. Highly recommend a hard play through, the combat changes quite a bit. It requires constant character switching and much more strategy. It forces you to really learn and explore their combat system and it’s very in-depth and rewarding once you get the hang of it.

Chris

ITS HAPPENING!

Brock Smith

Can't wait to get to this sometime in Feb. Thanks guys.

Aman Sidhu

Somebody tell Dustin the etymology of Gyp'd. I dont think he would but why give anyone ammo to cancel you or take you down in anyway. FD I dont care he said it i dont want it to affect CLS at all.

Erik Peterson

I'd love to hear Micah's take on Barret in FFr. Like her, I'm also biracial and was....perplexed by his portrayal. not "offended," but...let me put it this way - they seemed to keep "true" to the vibe of his original treatment, which is fine, but they went to INCREDIBLE lengths to recharacterize other party members like Jesse, so why not barret? I was hoping for more of a Denzel from Man on Fire vibe, but instead, we got a GI Joe Minstrel lol

Toren R. (KESA)

I'm stupid pumped lol

Toren R. (KESA)

I love that this Spoilercast is here! I loved this game. Like Colin, I was CERTAIN this game was going to be garbaggio before it's release, but was proved wrong. My only major complaint is less about the game and more about Square; as someone who has played Crisis Core multiple times, FF7r feels more like a sequel to that game, than it does a "remake" and as a result I think it's bizzare, if not irresponsible that there's no way for people to play CC short of finding a PSP and buying the UMD Colin, have you ever heard of any rumblings of a remaster or remake of Crisis Core? if so, how has Square managed to not capitalize on it? Crisis Core is frankly one of Square's VERY BEST games, and you've mentioned it before, Colin, that SE almost comes across as resentful of FF7, and the way they ignore Crisis Core and even Before Crisis really lends itself to that inference. Also, watch your mouth about Dirge of Cerberus...it's the end of the canonical timeline and a flawless masterpiece.

Toren R. (KESA)

About time, nerds! šŸ™ƒ

Miles Williams

I played the demo didn’t get into it, but the game does look incredible and I’m fascinated to watch what happens next.

James Galos

Thanks for delivering the goods!

Jordan Avery

The haters said you wouldn't do it, Colin.

Finally! Was looking forward to this, I LOVED the remake a lot. Awesome! Thanks for getting to this

Adam Thiry

2020 can now rest.

Quintin Propes

First time ever subbing to a Patreon, though probably should have ages ago. You got me Colin. You got me.

Happy Birthday!

Monty Pearson

Congrats, welcome to the future. šŸ¤™šŸ½

Dominican Lou

It’s time. Oh baby.

Raymond Aludino

Today’s my birthday AND I get the FF7 spoiler cast! What a day!!!

Forrest Hunter

Honestly dude its okay I got sidetracked at the end when I couldn't figure out the final battle. Perfect time for it now. Only thing that would make this more perfect would be if Dagan had got in on it.

Erik Peterson

I got my Ps5 today AND the spoilercast dropped? What a day man. What. A. Day.

Benito

And so it is.
