You're comparing old IP to new IP. Obviously we know what GOW will be, Horizon 2, Demons Souls these are all well established. With Micrsosoft the the proof will be in the pudding due to their spotty track record, hence any perceived lack of excitement, they need prove to the wider audience they can deliver so any reveal be it gameplay new or old will be met with some scepticism.

Its about excitement though. People are excited about anything new added to the gameplay of Horizon and God of War. They are not excited about Halo 6 or Gears 6. You can however get people excited by showing them gameplay thats new (Or just different really), or something thats interesting about it. Microsoft showed very little information at all.

While I agree we should totally have seen more gameplay for Medium by now, though there is some it is very confusing. You just named sequels and remakes to established franchises and compared them to a new ip. By that summary what are the odds Halo Infinite isnt a first person shooter? Gears 6 isnt a third person one? Perfect Dark may be up in the air (prolly a first person shooter even though that isnt what Xbox needs right now) but for the most part I think we can get a rough idea of how established franchises will work.

At the 1hr mark you ask "What do you do in it?" For medium. It's not that people want gameplay, they want to know what the gameplay will be. For me this is the biggest issue with Xbox announcements vs Sony. People KNOW what God of War, Spiderman, Demon Souls, Horizon 2 are going to play like. It's very easy to get excited about that. Microsoft's 2020 announcements were back to back "That's really awesome... What exactly is the gameplay?" Avowed is maybe the closest to where we can reasonably assume what it'll be, but even then we are just guessing. Microsoft really needs to find a way to communicate that early on in a games announcement. (see the new God of War, first time we saw it was gameplay I believe).

I dig the show so don’t take this as a negative. I would suggest maybe expanding a little on the games/hardware when you’re talking about them. I’ve recently moved to Xbox after playing Sony and Nintendo consoles the last few years, and I’m not familiar with a lot of these studios or franchises. Colin has always added helpful little tags at the end of topics to help familiarize us with the history of said topic. I don’t expect you to do exactly this, but maybe just consider us newbies in the Xbox space for the first time. Again, this first show was great and I’m excited to see the evolution. Just a friendly thought.

Guys, I became a patreon again just to support this show. It's a fantastic idea. Also, I have a great idea for a segment. Hear me out :) Okay, so kind of like when you get a sample selection of chocolates or biscuits to try and see what you like, my idea is a game pass sampler! Once a week a game pass game is randomly selected. Then, over the next seven days, both hosts as well as the listeners download that game and play it for one hour from the start. Then, during the following week's episode you both give your impressions on the opening hour of the game, discussing the pros and cons, etc. I think it's a great way to have the audience feel like they're a part of the conversation too, sort of how Knockback episodes inspire me to go consume that media prior to listening to that episode. I was a little disappointed when listening to episode 0, I didn't think it was quite what I was wanting. But this was great! Love the format, and you two obviously have a good flow. There are a couple hosts of IGN's xbox podcast that seem to think they need to be PR people or something, so I'm glad I can unsubscribe from that and still get my Xbox fix. Keep up the great work!
