I guess my concern with Microsoft buying Bethesda is that they really seem to struggle with managing the studios they already have. During the Xbox One generation, they were unable to gestate a really strong outstanding exclusive. I think there may be something behind the scenes they need to reevaluate. Xbox needs quality. Not quantity

I agree with you on 90% of your critique of games journalism as per JK Rowling and hall monitoring, but IMO, JKs comments and patterns are dangerous and deserving of critique. I see your passion in this area, and I think Contrapoints video might be useful in providing bigger picture.

I think the lines between a Games journalist and dev/publisher have become blurred for a few years now. I may be wrong but we see people like podcasters sucking upto CD PROJEKT RED and getting merch or Greg Miller doing EA events. It makes it a lot harder to criticise a company when you get cool stuff from devs/publishers etc and remaining true to your audience and to be critical about a game also. Great episode Colin!

Hey [insert witty and insulting pet names], Wanted to reach out and share a little inside scoop with you guys. I have a friend that works at Ubisoft Toronto and as you may expect, I had some questions for him when we last spoke. He let me know the following: 1. They all found out about the Star Wars game at the same time we did. There was a ton of excitement about it at their studio but he was disappointed to learn that Ubisoft Stockholm will be developing it with support from other studios. 2. The recent delay of Far Cry 6 was in fact directly related to the debacle that was the cyberpunk release. The game itself is fully playable and runs great, but they thought the extra time would help them with polish etc. Covid has made things significantly more difficult for them and that “they’ve learned from the mistakes of other studios”. As a Toronto resident myself I can say that our on again off again lockdowns have been ridiculously annoying and detrimental to just about every traditional business in the city. P.s. if this makes it on the show I’ll up my subscription. Call it a bribe. I don’t care.

Just got the platinum on cyberpunk and while I agree there are some issues it's not nearly as bad as people have made it out to be. I was super excited for the Witcher 3 because I loved the 1st 2 on PC

Great episode. Legacykilla was great. Loved how he didn't hold back his punches at the evergrowing nonsense of the "journalism" in games media. It was also nice to hear I wasn't alone in not giving a shit about these fairytale new games coming out of bethesda like elder scrolls 6. Bethesda to me has been shitting out the worst quality games this whole generation. Don't understand the hype at all.

When you were talking about Cyberpunk, it sounded like you were talking about the KF temps, specifically Parris and Alanah for having worked with CDPR on marketing (or in Alanah’s case actually being in the game), and then Andrea for hosting events. I didn’t expect that from you Col. I get what you’re saying, but those guys always disclose that stuff, and lay into the games as well. Maybe I’m wrong and you were talking about other people, but that’s what I got from it. Mass Effect 3’s quality is arguable? LK is wild for that one.

Some great points about Bethesda's development history made in the pod. I remember the first game from them I played was Daggerfall. It was buggy AF! Constantly falling through the environment in dungeons. Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim all were in various states of play-ability and unplay-ability when launched.

I think he’s the biggest yellow journalist the industry has and sites like kotaku and ign are empty shells of what they where. I truly don’t understand why advertisers give those sites any money at all. They cater to typical Lenin and Maoist communist and the last time I looked they have no money and if they did they expect the service or good for free. I was a prime member on IGN from 2002-2018 mostly for their guides, thanks Colin, but those are all incomplete now and days. Lol I just like my user name, Pimpin123. Perhaps I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure Bethesda Austin made most of Fallout 76 and then Bethesda Game Studios supported with writing the story and such. If I remember right, they weren’t full hands-on that game at Bethesda Game Studios till like the final year of development. Bethesda Game Studios attached its name to it as primary developer so the game would sell better. For Fallout 4, pretty sure that game was being made for previous gens, then it took too long and they had to rework it for the Xbox One and PS4 gen, so it was basically a 360 and PS3 game on new hardware.
