When I saw the scene of Bill Haverchuck making his meal and watching tv by himself a flood of emotions came back as I recalled being a child of a single mother and poor. Making peanut butter and jelly saltine “sandwiches” because that’s all we had in the pantry, being alone for hours after school. It cut really deep and the sort of undercurrent of loneliness really hit me.

The fact that it takes place in Michigan is just the cherry on top for me. I will never not adore this show

2021-04-13 17:54:43 +0000 UTCThis is a great show. I enjoyed Nick's Neil Peart (RIP) basement drum setup. The Lord of the Based (Bill Haverchuck) was my favorite character. This struck me as an 80s-era Wonder Years style show that sadly died too early.
