I know I'm supremely late to this, but the green fire stuff in Game of Thrones is actually called Wildfire, or better yet "pyromancer's piss".

Evan Bederman

Well, I don't want solicitations.

Colin Moriarty

Hmm... I bought it in 2005 or 2006 on 80stees.com.

Colin Moriarty

Col, I appreciate your no solicitations sign journey. You old man you. πŸ˜„ So I actually had no interest in ever watching these for whatever reason until I saw you guys were covering it. That’s another property you’ve put me on to. You guys gotta start getting sponsorships or something at this point, HBO Max owes you a portion of my cut for this and Band of Brothers at least. I found this movie weird and kinda silly in the beginning, but by the end it pretty epic and I’m looking forward to watching the other films soon. I never realized how many memes were from this movie like you mentioned Col.

NeO JD

Hey Col, couldnt help but notice the "You've Died of Dystentery" shirt in this episode...my girlfriend sells the identical shirt and was wondering where you purchased it from?

Halph Pint

Sounds like a dream, frankly.

Colin Moriarty

One day... one day.

Colin Moriarty

If you boys ever come to Texas, you have to find a Buc-ees. It's a convenience store amped up to the power of 100

Kevin McBrayer

Love this episode. The trilogy as a whole is my favorite movie (yes it is one 12 hour movie). Watching the extended trilogy each of the three saturdays leading up to Christmas is one of my favorite traditions. Listening to this also made me excited for the inevitable game of thrones topics.

Kyle Day

Oops, credit to Dagan then :)

The Late Nate

Hahaha! See! It's that for so many.

Colin Moriarty

Thank you.

Colin Moriarty

I know a lot of people feel that way!

Colin Moriarty

It is!

Colin Moriarty

Dagan is actually the one who said that, but I will totally take credit.

Colin Moriarty

Interesting!

Colin Moriarty

=D

Colin Moriarty

Yeah, I think I'm confusing the two.

Colin Moriarty

Thank you!

Colin Moriarty

It's remarkable. He's a great man! Or was. =)

Colin Moriarty

You're entitled to your opinion. =)

Colin Moriarty

Maybe. =\

Colin Moriarty

Bless YOU!

Colin Moriarty

I think I'm mixing up my books! It's been many years.

Colin Moriarty

Very nice episode

I remember my cousin bringing this over as a rental, we almost kicked his butt out. Don’t be bringing your nerd stuff here Cuz! Needless to say, it was a revelation to my true nature. I was a nerd in hiding. Definitely opened the door to books, movies, shows and video games I would not have tried prior. So, I salute you Cousin Oscar. Thanks for teaching me about Diablo, Starcraft, and LOTR.

Edwin Magana

Personally, I prefer the two towers movie over the book mainly because the movie weaves the frodo and Sam/Gimli, Aragorn, Legolas stories together pretty well where the first half of the book follows Aragorn and the second half follows frodo and, me personally, found the second half of the book to move at a glacial pace

TheJoe-senOne

Lol ya I can't stand that I also hate how in the audiobook there is so much singing! Obviously if your reading the physical you can skip it... but dang sooo much!

Tyler Bello

You mean, you don't enjoy 15 pages of text to just describe a hill? I kid. I love both, but if given the choice, I would probably keep the movies over the books (mostly because of the music)

Ryan Zimm

I'm going to say something blasphemous... the books are inferior to the movies.

Tyler Bello

Viktor

Thanks for turning around this topic so quickly! I've wanted an episode on the individual movies ever since I heard your the initial Lord of the Rings knockback. And Colin I completely agree with you, all these conversations and discussions on YouTube about the Lord of the Rings are way too short to get into the meat of a nearly 4 hour movie, let alone if that 20 minute video covers the whole trilogy. This podcast was excellent you guys, looking forward to the eventual Two Towers episode far down the line! Hope you got some of that quality Longbottom Leaf! Cheers

The Late Nate

β€œI’m well hung... let’s end on that”

Random Integer

Love the episode but I have a couple things that you may want to address in the coming two towers and return of the king podcasts: The lord of the rings Amazon show is a working title. The story is confirmed to take pace during the second age before the events of the hobbit. Possibly involving a younger Aragorn or even earlier than that and the forging of the rings of power and sauron being a manipulator. Getting your father and/or Micah would be amazing for different perspectives (the obsessive and the newcomer).

Connor Bright

Love the episode. Hope that we get podcasts on the other movies and the books some day. Btw, Tom Bombadil is only in Fellowship of the Ring when he saves the hobbits from the Barrow Wights early on. He never makes an appearance in the Hobbit.

Nathaniel Taylor

true

Gerard Tremblay

One of the best episodes so far. I love Lord of the Rings

KomakiKhaos

Sorry Colin, Tom Bombadil is not in The Hobbit, just The Lord of the Rings

Tommy Murphy

Great episode. Tolkien is such a genius, it’s by no chance he revived high fantasy: he was simply the only one skilled enough to do it. World-renowned philologist at Oxford and the premier authority on Beowulf, the dude was nominated by CS Lewis for a Nobel Prize in literature. There are recordings, and his students said it too, where he would literally walk into class speaking fluent Old English. That’s how he could create multiple languages for LotR and know what archetypes needed to work and fit in his stories and characters. LotR was something he did in his spare time. Colin, I respect you like GoT better, but in my opinion there’s no contest between LotR and GoT. It may be that no fiction writer rivals Tolkien.

Caleb Greer

My first ever write-in on a topic made it in, and of all things, its the Fellowship of the Ring, episode, my favorite movie of all time! Sorry it's for shitting on a character you guys love, but it had to be said lol.

Alex Gritzmacher

Omg, am I watching Colin become the old guy that gets his house egged by the kids?

BM

Bless this podcast :’)
