I think Colin is talking about the puzzle in the castle regarding the statues of the poor, the guy on a horse and the two female statues. The reason I think this is because I had the exact same reaction.

Salutations, you tenacious trio of titillating twinks. I just read that Embracer(formerly THQ Nordic) is talking to 150 companies about potential acquisitions... I've gamed long enough to have seen mediocre to awful titles like "Quest 64" on store shelves with that prominent and uninspired THQ logo emblazoned on them. I've seen them become liquidated and then morph with Nordic into the grotesque ameoba-like monstrosity that would go on to absorb all smaller organisms in its path. Question is: how do they do it? They don't have any notable games with selling power, at least none that I know of. The last Darksiders game, one it's biggest IPs, flopped hard. How does this thing manage to remain alive, and on top of that, acquire other companies and why? They are no Tencent but also do not contribute anything good to the gaming eco-system. How much profit can they possibly be making and from what? Your thoughts? Thank you for reading and for the best podcast out there. You guys rock! Congrats and keep up the good work!

Some titles have separate lists, but still allow you to 'carry over' the save and trophies to PS5, e.g. Borderlands 3, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Miles Morales, etc. Although I get Colin's stance on that, I feel that if FF7R carried over trophies it should be the exception to the rule, as it's totally understandable you'd want to be able to play the Yuffie DLC. I believe they may well be allowing PS4 players to carry over the progress, as I suspect the Yuffie DLC may expect a good bit of progress into the game before it allows you to boot the DLC up.

Intergrade (that is, the PS5 re-release of FF7R as a whole) will almost definitely have a separate trophy list from the PS4 one, especially if you look at the current situation with PS4/5 versions of games on PS5. Intermission is the Yuffie DLC. Intermission will likely be linked to the trophy list of Intergrade. From my understanding, Intergrade encapsulates the Yuffie-DLC Intermission, at least for now. So with regards to the trophy OCD... The PS4 list will be complete and detached from Yuffie for at least 6 months. Even then, we don't know if Intermission is coming to PS4 or other platforms for sure yet. FF7 Remake is still tied to the PlayStation ecosystem after its one-year exclusivity ended this past April, with no plans elsewhere. I feel like it might stay that way; Sony got FF16 too so maybe they're trying to hog FF right now lol. Anyways, why wait when it isn't even confirmed to come anywhere else come 2022? As for Intergrade trophies, why not just play FF7R again in 60fps. It's not even a long game on a second go vs. 6 months or longer for Intermission to hypothetically come to PS4. And if Intermission does come to PS4 next year, it'll be so far removed from relevance for us that it won't matter, having played FF7RI and Intermission. PLAY IT PLEASE!! :( I'm OCD too with stuff like this if it's any consolation. Hey Colin, I can kinda understand your stance on UBI when it comes to the money just being printed but what about UBI being funded in other ways? You mention Andrew Yang so I have to ask, how much do you know about his plan (When he was still running) and how to pay for it? I don't know off the top of my head if you could get a guest on who is UBI expert and have it relate to gaming but that would be a great listen. Anyways great episode as always.

There are specific VR games that are unplayable on PS5. Funny thing, Colin - Robinson: The Journey is unplayable on PSVR on PS5. Maybe another Crytek engine issue that they just refuse to go back to fix? Just a thought..

Appreciate your comments on how unreasonable a Dead Space Trilogy remaster is with EA being EA. But at the same time, they greenlit stuff like the C&C remasters which had so much heart poured into them, they were going as far as finding the original magnetic tape recordings of the actors and included stuff like unseen outtakes as bonus features.

Hey CDC, just listening to the returnal segment in this episode and one thing that's stood out to me is that none of you have mentioned the 3D audio implementation in the game. I assume neither of you have played with headphones? I'm wondering if this is one of the reasons you're all having some difficulty with the game (beyond the glitches). My reason for bringing this up is because it is such an integral part of the game. Having that awareness of enemy location/position has saved me sooo many times! Thanks for another great episode! P.s. Colin, you say this doesn't feel like a housemarque game but one of my first thoughts when I played was that it feels like a third person Nex Machina!

Hey guys, Referring to the Cross next generational games discussion. The reason why people are complaining about games like God Of War Ragnarok possibly not being able on PS4, as well as people supporting Horizon Forbidden West being on PS4 and PS5; it’s all because the media is making it seem like people still don’t have a PS5, and that it’s hard as nails to get one. But like you guys have pointed out, there are more PS5’s in the wild now than there were PS4’s in its lifecycle; so it’s just the media creating the illusion with its constant scalper and console availability reporting, coupled with the fact that it’s hard to get, and that we still aren’t able to walk into a store and just buy one.

It's true. The customer isn't always right. I used to work in retail and for example, some customers think employees should be able to make discounts, yet we cannot since that's against policy. People really take that idea and run with it.

Agreed. While Returnal has certain technical and systemic flaws, the game excels in other crucial areas - especially for their first venture into AAA-like space. I know Colin says it's not for him but I do think that calling Housemarque's talent "questionable" is a little unwarranted. The fact that Housemarque designed a game out of their traditional comfort zone of such overall quality is a triumph for them and Sony for believing and supporting an experimental and risky project. An argument can be about the overpricing but that's not on the devs. An average metacritic of 86 after nearly 100 reviews is certainly laudable - in the same ballpark as Spider-Man and HZD scores.

Imo, stating that Housemarque should have stayed more arcadey is like complaining that naughty dog is worse bc they moved on from crash bandicoot and jak and daxter. Those arcade games are done and gone, much like most 3D platformers. Housemarque was able to spread their wings and Returnal feels like the natural AAA evolution of what they’ve typically made

Every Returnal run doesn’t feel like a waste to me, bc it’s pretty good about dripping story bits BUT you HAVE TO HAVE TO HAVE TO turn up the sensitivity and remap the buttons or it’s way too frustrating and slow
