In regards to the "most important IP" discussion, I think thw big success of PS came down to a combination of Chris and Dustin's answer's. Mascot platformers said PS coukd compete with Nintendo, and MGS showed that PlayStation was the place to go to for big, "adult", cinematic experiences - something PlaStation has only leaned into with their entire first party lineup.

I too don’t understand what Roblox is. My 7 year old daughter plays roblox on her iPad. I asked her what it is and here is what she said: “Roblox is technically like other games but you go to different worlds and you’re like a Lego piece with your hands. Even if you play 2 hours a day that's 730 hours a year. If one game takes 70 hours of your time that makes it to where you can only play 10 games a year. For people that play tons of video games that really eats into our ability to play most major titles let alone the Indies. And this is assuming that you can spend 2 hours every single day of the year what if you have a family and you have vacations or holidays that you just aren't able to play video games. It's been mentioned many times before if a game is a 100 hours and that entire 100 hours makes sense then it's fine but there's a lot of games where it's an extra 30 to 50 hours of just extra padding and garbage and that's just offensive

They don’t want to distract from Ratchet, they want to surprise when they reveal it, and they don’t have the exact date nailed down. Also, God of War IS on track for this year, despite everyone saying immediately following the title card trailer that it’s not. I asked this question in video version but since I‘m not sure if people can even see those comments I‘ll ask here: Hey I had a question regarding people saying that they “don’t have time to play games” or that “their time is a limited commodity”... if you play 1 hour of mass effect or Dragonquest XI a day/night is that not manageable? Or are people mixing in the fact that they want to be done with games fast... In other words they get the feeling that they’re missing out on other stuff? I think saying that you don’t have time and that’s why you didn’t play a game applies to games that require long playing sessions like Returnal in my opinion. Not something like DQ or Mass Effect. So just say that you get bored of games... it’s not that you don’t have the time. Just a pet peeve of mine.

I had to put down returnal for my own sanity I just couldn't get by biome 3. I haven't even gotten to the boss tbh. I have died so many times I think my gameplay counters at 61 hours and I haven't even beaten the 3rd biome. At a certain point the difficulty spike just becomes too much for most players. Which is sad because I really enjoy this game. for all of those people that say just play through and upgrade your guns all my guns traits are ranked 2 or better and I still can't get past biome 3.

I find it odd how people have such a hard time understanding when something is "censorship", even besides the true meaning of requiring government force. Dustin was basically spot on. Like, if you work for a store, say Best Buy, you have to wear their uniform at work. You can't show up with a Biden or a Trump shirt, your boss will make you change. That is not censorship in any way. IGN's upper management and ultimately its owners have ultimate control over what goes up on their website. The employees may get paid to post articles, but whatever they post on IGN is representing the company and if upper management doesn't like it, there's nothing wrong with them taking it down. That isn't censorship in any way. It would be censorship if IGN started dictating what employees posted on their personal twitter feeds. I feel like the distinction should be pretty obvious, it's really not that complicated.

Colin, you know what helped me get through Returnal? Dedicate some runs to just leveling your guns up. Every gun comes with an unlockable trait. Some traits change the gun completely and can give you a huge advantage. Like you I only stuck with the carbine, but you start to unlock weapon traits that completely change the flow of combat. For example the shotgun has a trait called slug shot that turns it from useless to amazing. Still not a gun that would get me through the game, but you get the idea. So just start a run, stick with a gun until you unlock the trait, move onto a different gun. Even if it’s trait you don’t like, you won’t get the next available (potentially amazing) trait until you unlock the previous one. Rinse and repeat with every weapon you find. When you run out of enemies start the run over. Or if you’re feeling well prepared move on to the boss. It’s this game’s version of grinding and progression. You get a better and better arsenal pool this way.

Great episode like always guys, quick note on Mass Effect 1 and how long is a complete playthrough . It took me 30 hrs on normal with the legendary level progression on. I knew what to do so that’s how much it took. Legendary leveling actually makes the game easier in my opinion because you will reach level 30 in one complete playthrough. I moved to ME2 instead of finishing ME on Insanity difficulty. I am 24 hrs in, I almost done with the loyalty missions.

It's funny you mention the 12 hour playthrough as being unusually fast. It is a bit quick but the main story is actually very short. Upon initial release my buddy, who tends to rush through games, beat it in just over 6 hours. I did grill him at the time for rushing through it because 6 hours for an RPG is ridiculous but realistically there just isn't that much content in the game. In terms of side quests there were some good ones but a ton of them were just cookie cutter quests with no real purpose. I personally think that a 20 to 25 hour playthrough for the first game is sufficient to see everything worth while. This is coming from someone who adores the game and has had hundreds of hours over 5 to 6 playthroughs.
