But even in its more lax contemporary state, Ratchet has been a consistent, high-quality series from Insomniac for nearly two decades, now. These days, the likes of Ratchet isn't what drives PlayStation -- we need to look at the likes of Horizon, God of War, and The Last of Us for that -- but the cartoonish platformer brings a great deal of much-needed levity, cuteness, and an overall lightness our ecosystem so desperately needs. It also doesn't help that it's a blast to play, beautiful to look and, and incredibly endearing all around... though certainly not without its problems. So let's analyze Rift Apart, talk about what it does right and wrong, and opine about not only the future of our favorite Lombax(es), but the future of this kind of game on PlayStation, period.

This was better than 2016 R&C although the weapons in that one felt more creative. Mr. Zurkon or bust! I’m surprised I never thought of a sequence as big Kit, that would’ve been awesome. I did however expect her to have a different name. Not too fond of the name Kit. And I’m also of the mind that Rivet & Kit should lead the way, I prefer them over the original duo.

2021-09-27 03:44:48 +0000 UTCIn RC1 they made up at the end. And Ratchet and Clank were fighting because Clank is gullible to Quark BS. RC2016 is the really fun but the story is bad because the movie was bad IMO.

I disagree with others saying you should've gone more into the story, but maybe a favorite moments section would've been cool. Did not like the bellyaching about the inclusion of different gameplay sections, though. Ratchet & Clank games have always had Clank puzzle gameplay. I understand criticizing the quality of them, as I thought the Clank puzzles were too easy until the last one, which was satisfying, and I agree with Dustin that the Glitch gameplay was too repetitive, but these games have always featured this sort of gameplay variety and I love them for that. And Insomniac appeased gameplay variety haters like you guys by making those sections skippable so it makes no sense why you would complain about their existence.

2021-07-13 18:52:00 +0000 UTCHey Colin, just wanted to mention that All 4 One was not the only cooperative Ratchet and Clank game. Ratchet Deadlocked allowed you to play the whole game with a friend using split screen and was fantastic. Also, I know Chris doesn't read these but I appreciate he brought up that Rivet and Kit have a rocky start even though it was severely different than the rocky start of the original games. Loved this one, thank you

The Lorbs reveal the Lombaxes existed in several dimensions, and in the haste of their retreat, several Lombaxes were left behind in differentdimensions. The Lombaxes are like the new gods in DC. There are multiple dimensions in the DC multiverse, but there is only one Darkseid.

I personally found Rift Apart disappointing with a lot of repetition towards the end in terms of enemy/puzzle variety. I played through the PS2/PS3 trilogies and thought they were designed with a lot more variety in mind (space missions, rotating mini planets, mega Clank etc). Game is still really good but definitely on the lower end of the Ratchet and Clank rankings for me (still platinum’ed it though). Hopefully we don’t have to wait another five years for another entry, would love to see remakes/remasters but also new entries (maybe on the scale of Into the Nexus so we can get them faster). Listening now, hope everyone’s well! PS: loved the pirate planet, gave me big Quest for Booty vibes

2021-07-13 16:44:04 +0000 UTCi still get befuddled when Colin praises R&C ‘16. the games characters were so bland and sterile, none of the pop that was in the original. the comedy was also that terrible “lol so random” humour that pervades most media aimed towards kids; characters never shut the hell up! rift apart was a marked step up
