You're right at worst they abandon Steam, raise the price too much or stop putting big 3rd party games on GP day one. The service might grow into being only first party, lots of indies and old 3rd party games - which doesn't sound bad to me. I can't imagine simultaneous PC/Xbox releases stopping. I also find the notion that MS treats PC gamers as second class citizens as absurd. Both Flight Sim and Gears Tactics came to PC well before console. If MS didn't care about PC, they would have delayed Gears Tactics on PC to match the console release - which was when Xbox Series X launched. Hell, Age 4 might never come to console.
2021-07-22 14:28:51 +0000 UTCI wouldn’t expect microsoft to ever back out of PC gaming if they end up having the highest selling console. Not only is Windows a microsoft product, Satya and Phil have made it clear that they want their services on as many devices as possible. Services and products make more money than hardware, why start messing with the pool of players available? Worst I see is them taking games off Steam, and even that sounds ludicrous. They want as many people as possible playing their games so they spend more money in them.
