Thanks for the spoilercast. I don't know if you both checked out Death's Door... that would be another review discussion that might be interesting.
On The Ascent I feel like both of you were pretty harsh on the game, but that's ok if that's how you really felt. I personally loved it but definitely had to get over a "game-hump" in the beginning where I did encounter some overleveled enemies and sometimes wasn't really guided that well with the in-game objective tracker.
What really helped me was to seek out the chests that leveled me up beyond the side quests and that's how I got through a lot of the Main Story missions (and even side quests that I couldn't complete at first). The search for the chests helped me understand the fast travel system, the map and how to fight smarter (using cover and the vending machines properly), so I recommend it if you want to grind for levels. Also the bonus is that the chests usually have really good upgrades to either your cyberdeck or armor/weapons.
All in all, I think it's the prettiest game on Xbox right now, it's the Blade Runner game I never knew I needed and would love to see a sequel, but understand that some of the early trappings may put off a lot of people. I played on hard and by myself and even though I died a few times in certain spots it does reward you when you finally beat a boss or get through a dungeon (map disctrict).
Cheers guys.
