What a fantastic episode!! Loved this game as a kid. Beat it a thousand times it seems. The saddest part is that I haven’t played it since high school. I would love just a collection on PS4/5. I wouldn’t even need a remaster. Maybe a controls update but those games are a masterclass as is. Thanks for this. Probably the first time I was really taken back to playing this as a kid. I’m not nostalgic at all but man this was a good episode to listen too.

Just got around to tuning in. Thanks for answering my question! This was a great discussion.

What happened with Dagen's job I hope he is doing OK financially that can be rough

Can't wait to see you guys do an episode on MGS3, especially since it'll be the first time playing for Colin! I'd definitely be interested to see what you guys think of MGS4 if you decide to do an episode on that after revisiting the series so far :)

=)

Colin Moriarty

We'll get there before the end of the year, essentially.

Colin Moriarty

We'll get there. =)

My favorite aspect of the Fortune character is that she wields this experimental prototype weapon that shouldn't even actually work. Her luck just makes it work without incident. Nice touch.

Awesome episode. Looking forward to the MGS 3 knockback! One of my favorite games of all time. I even used the snake eater song for one of my songs in the ceremony of my wedding 😄. Really curious what Colin is going to think about MGS 3. For me, the song, the story, the plot, the atmosphere of the game, everything is just perfect. I loved mgs 2 also (played the demo that came with zone of the enders 100 times), but not as much as mgs 3. Damn, they don't make that kind of games anymore, that makes me sad 😢.

Big Boss Games

Great episode as always guys. Can’t wait for the eventual MGS3 and 4 episodes. Just wanted to correct something Colin said: the last chronological game in the series is actually Metal Gear Rising Revengeance (starring Raiden). Would actually be interested to hear what you guys think about that game at some point as well. Also, the bluepoint remake of MGS2 actually runs at 720p, like most PS3 games. Surprising you don’t know this, Colin!

Rameen

Sounds like MGSV😂 I get the criticisms, in many ways it isn't Metal Gear. But once you start unlocking all the crazy tech the playground becomes a lot more enjoyable

Liam Mcnulty

MGS5 frustrated me because I'd put so much time and effort into remaining stealthy and then an entire 30 minute section gets blown up for some nonsense. I dunno... it just wasn't Metal Gear to me. I didn't get it, and I still don't.

Colin Moriarty

This and Demolition Man predicted the future. You're in for an absolute treat with MGS3, incredible game. Any I know you didn't like MGSV, the story leaves something to be desired, but the gameplay is Metal Gear at its best, totally bizarre and hilarious. I really hope you try it again one day, such a fun platinum to achieve as well. I loved this episode, thank you =)

Liam Mcnulty

Thank you. <3

To echo Dagan; you really have cultivated a positive and vibrant community. From the podcasts to the social aspect, even the discord. I love just chatting to people across the globe who relate to the LSM podcasts. If you do come to London I’m 100% travelling down from Scotland.

Marc Cairney

We hope to get to MGS3 before year's end. Thank you for listening, and for your kind words!

Colin Moriarty

Great podcast gentlemen. The Tanker intro portion of the game is brief, but I thought that is where Bluepoint really shined the most in their remaster of this title. Having recently replayed this game on PS3 myself around April or May 2021, I was very impressed with how cool the deck of the tanker was today. After playing this game I liked it more than ever, despite the dated gameplay and annoying controls. Unfortunately when I moved onto MGS3 I liked it way less and even stopped halfway through at how frustrating I found alerts to be. Looking forward to that discussion down the road and maybe I’ll return before then if I find time.

Kickstand

If you haven't revisisted it in the past 5-10 years I highly suggest you do! It blew me away what I picked up this time, and how the book aged in even a 10 year timespan between readings.

Tonys_Always_Write

Great book. =)

Colin Moriarty

The prescience of art like this is so awesome. Colin's comments toward the end of the show really reminded me of how I felt when I reread 1984 last summer.

Tonys_Always_Write

I'm really looking forward to playing. I know I'm gonna love the villains. =)

Colin Moriarty

Ah, very interesting.

Colin Moriarty

I'm really pleased to hear it's all worked out for you. =)

Colin Moriarty

#46.

Colin Moriarty

It's really a remarkably prescient game. I think it can only truly be appreciated today.

Colin Moriarty

We had a fun talk. =)

Colin Moriarty

Enjoy!

Glad to finally deliver. =)

Loved this episode and I cannot wait for the Metal Gear Solid 3 topic. It’s my favorite game of all time and listening to Colin geek out about the Cobra Unit is going to be great.

Michael Miller

One of the interesting things I found when doing research about this game is that the Rose and Jack interactions, specifically the remembering of April etc, was actually based on Kojimas past relationships and how him always working made him forget about important details like that. He mentions it during his BAFTA interview

Kenneth Oms

I completely relate to what I know of Dagan’s situation currently and the interesting part is that this show played a role in getting me through a similar tough time. I took a risk, and when I got back from Iraq I moved to an entirely new city and tried to start a new career. After almost a year I finally succeeded. It’s hard for vets to often find decent, let alone life-altering, careers. KnockBack and SS played a role in just keeping my spirits up and giving me shit to smile about. I’m grateful for the content you gents create. I hope we as listeners can return the favor both monetarily and through community.

Quinn

Which episode is mgs?

Michael Thew

MGS2 is one of the most important games in my life and gaming history. I remember a review tag line (from IGN I believe) saying 'this game will change your life'. I didn't really understand that until I played it. Tbh, even back then I didn't think the gameplay was perfect, and I actually had quite a few frustrations that led me to GameFAQs to even find out how to progress. But as an overall experience, it's emotional, mind blowing and haunting to this very day. The final Codec call in particular is one of the key moments that shaped the things I'm concerned about now: society, digital freedom, online discourse, the state of politics, corporations and conspiracies. It's truly remarkable how this game's themes stand the test of time. Or rather, how prophetic they were. Thanks for covering this!

JusticeSoulTuna

My favorite game of all-time being discussed? Hell yea

Matt salcido

Ohhhhhhhhhhh baby I can't wait for this

Julian Zhu

It's a muthafucken Hydra! Let's roll fatties
