I mean I’ve always butted heads with people holding off on buying games that they were interested in and I never quite understood the logic other than just to save a few bucks which if you’re invested in the hobby I don’t get how a few dollars here or there make that much of a difference but like I said there was a kid I knew who only bought games around Black Friday and then just played whatever it is he got his hand on that weekend of sales for the following year than bought the next slate of games on Black Friday next year it was l weird thing to me I’m mainly speaking out not because people shouldn’t get the game for free with a sub service like GamePass or whatever fine but like PlayStation users who are being told oh you shluld wait until it’s half price and you have a excellent amazing game for $30 but that it’s not that excellent and amazing at 60 it’s just a weird take

Forgive me for coming off as thickheaded here, but I don’t understand how a game is definitely worth playing for $10 or $20 but not worth playing at $60… Is a game worth playing or is it not worth playing? I don’t get where the money angle has to play any part in the equation. I mean take for example the new Oddworld: Soulstorm game, it launched day and date on PlayStation plus and as far as I know it was the only place and manner in which to play it so I downloaded it and played it because I was interested the game and had an active PS plus account. I would’ve paid whatever was asked by the publisher whether it was 20, 30, 40 or 60 because it was a game I was interested in. I would never say well I’m interested for $20 but if they want to charge full price then I’m not interested it just seems that the conversation is always about copping out for price… I get the conversation that a game that is a couple hours long perhaps doesn’t command a AAA cost but most of her conversations in my opinion or meritless. This recently came up with Returnal, people were saying I’ve never heard of a roguelike costing $60 in that case $70 it’s like people knew nothing about the game inform these twisted opinions.

No, I said that's the price I would wait for to buy it at as stated in my review. I did not enjoy it enough to pay full price. That does not mean the game is not one that should be sold for a starting price of $60.

For the longest time the only PS I ever had was a PS2, and I wouldn't miss an episode of SS. Tough to ignore such great content. (I very recently got a PS4 from a family member who upgraded to PS5, and I now have access to his large library for free!)

You can say it’s overhyped or whatever but a comment like that is absolutely ludicrous. Do you want to talk about the merits of a game where you like it or dislike it but to say that 60 bucks it’s not worth it…joke

Responding to question raised about Gears: Lol Gears doesn’t have many options as a 3rd person shooter to reform its multiplayer because it is in fact a 3rd person shooter. Most TPS result in corner peaking and shooting when better ASSault rifles are introduced into the mix. The best thing Coalition already did (sort of) and should do again (sort of) is to revisit Gears 1 and it give it an online platform treatment. Remade in UE5. Get rid of set characters and let players make their own. Easy. Millions and millions. Billions.

I do hope you are right about Gears 6 matching Halo Infinite's model. Games nowadays tend to be either singleplayer-only or multiplayer-only (at least the ones that get the most buzz), so splitting the game makes a lot of sense to me. I enjoy Arcade mode too, but regular modes are so fun when you happen to stumble upon a casual lobby. Both you and the Dukes make a great point about the dangers of pissing off the hardcore fans. It's a shame because (as a long time Gears fan) I find that Gears multiplayer is insanely fun whenever both teams don't follow the meta. This is pretty rare, and it usually only happens during the first month or so after launch (iirc the Gears 5 launch). My favorite Gears PvP was 2 because of the stopping power (bullets slow player movement) and the high-powered semi-auto hammerburst. I recall really pissing off the gansher-wall-bouncers whenever I easily gunned them down for being sloppy (ah the good old days of Xbox Live vitriolic behavior!).

I’m not sure what Gears is going to do to cater to both audiences without losing population overall. If they lean away from the meta, the hardcore will turn away. If they keep the current meta, it’ll stay closed off to everyone else. I’ve always been of the mind that if Gears changes to appeal to people who don’t play Gears, you’re running the risk of trying to get players who won’t end up playing the game long-term and end up losing the audience that does. Gears 5 did have an arcade mode with multiple different load outs to make casual playlists, I had fun with it because it didn’t rely on the meta and added variety. The next Gears will probably be structured like Halo Infinite with a free MP service-style that spans a long time. I’m sure it’ll have casual playlists that get away from the meta while the hardcore will have their modes.
