Constellation, Episode 50 | Our Favorite Villains, Christmas, Reality TV, Raprock

Welcome to Constellation, Last Stand's conversational podcast. This week, the Brothers Moriarty are joined by LSM executive producer Dustin Furman, and -- for the first time -- popular YouTuber Finn Mckenty, the Punk Rock MBA. Let's get into the topics, shall we? Knowing that Finn is a fellow music connoisseur, Colin wants to probe his mind about one of his beloved musical genres: Raprock. Does it deserve more respect? And why is it experiencing a resurgence in recent years? Keeping seasonality in mind, Dustin's topic is Christmas, something fun for children but bastardized by commerce nonetheless. As adults, do we even care anymore? Finn's keen to chat about reality TV: Its history, its long run of success stories, and how it inspired our entertainment lives. Finally, Dagan's topic is one for the ages, all about our favorite bad guys in fiction. If we had to construct a so-called Mount Rushmore of Villainy, who would adorn it?

So glad that Attack on Titan came up, I was hoping someone would say Eren Jaeger so thank you Finn! (Hopefully Colin will get back into the show!) I also must vehemently disagree about the animation taking a turn for the worse in the final season. It’s absolutely beautiful and I think Mappa did an incredible job.

Hollywood Undead is really good. I love them

DarthLemon616

So stoked that Finn was on the show! Hopefully he’ll be back even more!

Brandon Garvin

Agree with everyone else that Finn was a dope guest. My top 4 Villains: Joker (Hamill) , Gustavo Fring, Green Goblin, Homelander (TV) Chronic Future is my fave band. So much potential. Everything after Lines In My Face hits. Ugly ornament exchange is cute.

YESSS

NeO JD

I've never once heard Colin mention the $10 tier until this episode

PuppiesOnParade

Kid Rock puts on a great live show. Super tight band.

Michael Cline Jr.

Agreed. Santa Claus is a game you play with your children. It’s an elaborate form of pretend, stimulating to a child’s mind in the same way things like imaginary friends are. Saying it’s “a lie” or whatever has always come off like a Reddit-tier smug atheist attitude to me. It’s harmless. My parents did the Santa thing with me and I didn’t mind at all when I figured out it was real. It was fun.

Supes

Death Grips as rap rock is too fucking funny

Jacob R.

Telling a child Santa isn’t real kills their imagination and leaves society with a soulless drone that we all must deal with as they age. Do us all a favor and let your children be children. Curb the Neil degras Tyson schtick

Brandon V

Any fans of rap rock need to check out Street Sweeper Social Club. It’s Tom Morello and Boots Riley of The Coup. It was painfully short-lived and underappreciated but it’s fucking dope.

Jamie Hexum

Dude the same thing happened to me. I only just finished season 3. For fucks sake I was really hoping that wasn’t a spoiler. Skipped forward as soon as he said the name. So bummed out, probably won’t even finish it now.

Madsines

Dude chronic future yes!!

DIS-Bee

100%. There have been several times that I've had to mentally remind myself that it isn't Matty.

Stephen King

Cannot believe I got AOT spoiled for me that was real cool

Zac

Finn is awesome

JD

I fucking love Finn.. he was great on this episode and gels so well with the crew, need him on LSM content more often from now on. He better be part of the nu-metal subject with Ramon when it finally comes.

Craig Carter

Dag should definitely try Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order and Survivor. Darth Vader is legit awesome

Swaffles23

Just an FYI, Attack on Titan spoilers at about 45 minute mark.

USAlien

Please, think of adding time stamps, guys. Some weeks only certain topics interest me,but I won't skim through to find it.

Gretelsgooch

Finn’s a dope guest, he fits right in to the dynamic

Jacob R.

Lol, Lockmort is going to “hit it out of the park” with Colin this week.

Matthew Guilford

The rap/rock conversation had me listening to my rap/rock playlist on my drive home from work and while making dinner lol.

Josh Gamez

Yeah, had been awhile, but I didn’t remember that part of the story so thank you

Jeff in NOLA

Joffrey the only likable character in all of Game of Thrones. Honest and know exactly who he is the entire time

Jeff in NOLA

I can’t believe there wasn’t a Body Count reference for rap rock!

Simon Freeman

Also, loved Finn on here. I'm a major music nerd and watch nearly every video that Finn does.

Jay McGraw

In the upcoming Pizza discussion, don't forget Mr. Gatti's Pizza. I have infinitely great memories of going to the Gatti's near my grandmothers, getting the pizza buffet and watching the cartoons and playing the table top arcade games. Maybe the games biased me to liking the pizzza, but I still can remember the distinctive taste it had in comparison to other places.

Jay McGraw

It’s an easy mistake to make since they came out in such close proximity (the same year, in fact), but “The Killing Joke” is not the story where Joker beats Robin to death with a crowbar. That story would be “A Death in the Family” . Just thought I’d point it out in case anyone was curious that doesn’t know Batman as much as my nerd ass.

SmashingSuccess

Yo Finn is dope I've subscribed to him for a long time. Very cool guest.

DIS-Bee

That dude really sounds a lot like Matty.

Bogey

God dammit I love Finn, I'm so glad you guys invited him onto the show.

Craig Carter

This is unexpected! I knew Dustin is a fan of his but that's cool.

Quinnton from Spokane

Love Finn and his channel. So excited to listen to this one. Thanks guys.

Alex Gould

Finn is awesome!
