I chuckle when I hear people talk about LA as if it's a wasteland when in reality it's only certain pockets of it that are truly dangerous. It's just like most cities in Western countries. One block is beautiful and the next is sketchy.

With no real context on why people are committing crimes you cannot fix the crime in the first place. Slamming somebody who steals a 5k tv from Walmart into prison for years? It’s literally a victimless crime against a corporation. Ideas like that are from the Reagan era and are the reason this country is known as a prison state all around the world. We have 2x as many people in prison than CHINA. We fix inequality, the wage gap, and the healthcare system to watch those crime numbers plummet. I want you to marinate on why the pandemic contributed to the rise in crime. Dig a little deeper than bored people trying to get away with stupid shit.
