The show features host Brad Ellis along with two rotating members of the Last Stand crew. Going forward, the show will be released every Tuesday for LSM Patrons and on Fridays for the public.
To have Episode 1 ready for you today, we recorded in advance, requiring a slightly different format. So, we (Brad, Dustin, and Colin) decided to look back at 2023 and discuss our favorite games of the year, along with other categories like best soundtrack, best 7, and biggest winners and losers. This is a doozy of a first episode, running over four hours long, so please enjoy!

I will say that it was somewhat... refreshing, maybe? I sometimes feel like Colin is gatekeeping himself from great things for virtually no reason. I'm not talking about things he just dislikes like CRPGs or whatever but rather things he would undoubtedly love like Triangle Strategy, for example. That's a Colin-ass game right there! He'd probably enjoy Yakuza 0 too if he could keep his mind focused on it for long enough.

I just wanted to say that Brad came from a group that had that close friend group energy where they share their excitement and try to convince each other to play different games really hard. Way harder than anyone at LSM. So it might be an adjustment on Brad’s part, but please don’t take it the wrong way. Also Brad’s best friend Huber is the type to grab your shoulder and yell at you (friendly yell) to play a game. So some of that might’ve rubbed off on Brad over the years.

I also like the idea of Colin having more time & energy to put into SS+ moving forward. Additionally I’m happy to see the LSM family grow. I’m not familiar with Brad’s previous work at all so I look forward to learning more. Having a fellow Darkest Dungeon Fan is also a big W. That being said, I do wanna leave a little bit of feedback. I hesitate to say any of this as I don’t wanna be perceived as putting any negative energy out there. As an LSM patron since its original inception I’m passionate about what you guys do which is the spirit in which I write this comment. I did not like Brad’s Vocal active listening throughout the podcast. IMO It runs counter to the style that most if not all of the other LSM hosts do. I felt it was very distracting and constantly muddled what was being said. Furthermore it created an environment where it felt like Brad was sometimes talking over Colin & Dustin which drove me bonkers. Podcast hosts talking over each other is a problem that runs rampant in a lot of places and SS has always handled that so well where every host gets time to breathe. Overall I’m confident as Brad settles in I’m sure the content will only get better and better just like the rest of the LSM shows. It’s possible that my feedback is entirely just a personal preference and maybe other people will actually love exactly what I didn’t here. Anyways, I look forward to 2024 content from ya’ll and wish everyone at LSM continued success!

I know Brad and Dustin are close, but he comes off awkward with Colin. Secondly, Summon Sign makes it sound like it's a Dark Souls only podcast, not gaming in general. And I think the logo is the weakest of the LSM podcast logos, not a fan of the grey. Sorry I'm a downer, I do want to see more on how the show continues and evolves. Feels like Playstation buying Bungie as of right now.

I’ve always said Colin that I think you’re psyching yourself out with those games’ reputation of being difficult. If an enemy is beating your ass, that’s the game telling you you’re not ready for this, go explore somewhere else and level up. But a lot of people think the game is supposed to be that hard and try to brute force their way through it.
