Great show guys, not an Xbox player but love the information you share

SIR_K_Daddy

Great analysis, Big Titty Drinker. Fully agree

Deemac

#DDRemains great episode gentlemen

Phil is losing his mind if he thinks Nintendo is going to bring a 1st party game to another platform. THE ONLY way Nintendo would EVER go multiplat is if it's a new live-service IP and would only come to Switch 2/PC

BigDumbStupidIdiot

Man I feel that! Soft growth can be rough!

AtomicToasterYo

Mattie you know the answers to your questions. Why Starfield isn’t going. Why the biggest games aren’t going. What other way were they supposed to communicate this. You are basically asking them to throw gasoline on their fan base and light it up. Both of you know better. First of all the situation is fluid. They most likely don’t even know what is going to happen because it depends on what happens and how things go. Things are obviously changing in the industry. Xbox isn’t in the position to put their business at risk ripping the band aid off while Sony is just starting to test the waters. This is what is now. Most likely eventually bigger games will come but over time. By then who knows what Sony will be doing if HellDivers is any indication. Saying that you don’t know what will happen when you don’t know what will happen and things are fluid is NOT a walk back. To me that was the most honest answer he could’ve given w/o blowing up the fan base.

Great episode. As someone who had an Xbox and sold it nothing they said here is winning me back. I’ve since fallen off subscription services in favor of owning the games so game pass just doesn’t speak to me. Exclusives would but seems like that’s not a priority lol. People want a reason that justifies their purchase. “You might need this box but maybe you don’t we don’t even really know yet.” Isn’t inspiring me to spend the money. I’ll be honest I see all this and I think to myself “why not TRY selling your exclusives on your own box again and not just giving them away to people?” Then maybe you don’t have to put your games on competing platforms! With what they have as far as IP now people would buy an Xbox and buy the games. If you had to buy the game and you had to have an Xbox, people would! But hey, that’s their choice, lol. I think it would sell the boxes though if you needed it to play their games. They seem to do everything but the thing that is working for the competition lol. They have a box out there that has a store! Why not sell the games even for a period of time? They seem to be so future thinking on everything but not in the present. They seem to not look at what the market is doing and wants at this moment and instead want to shape the market to their liking. None of us even know if any of this is the future! You need to sell hardware right now to improve the brand. As a big company I think they seem to only think about growth potential and not fixing their current situation. Phil Spencer’s promises are always 20 years in the future not right now. It’s like “ok great but it doesn’t work right now for you so why are you doing it? If it doesn’t work now, how do you know 20 years from now it works? Meet the market where they’re at. All I’m saying! The generation is theirs to win too. People are waiting another year for PS5 exclusives with no real promise of anything in 2025 yet! I think they should reinvigorate their commitment to the brand or long term this is gonna really hurt them.

AtomicToasterYo

Cog continues to foolishly focus on a fictional master plan for Xbox hardware. An air of desperation perhaps when it comes to calls to Xbox 360 redux.

Gonçalo Ferreira

Too much soft growth talk, pause. 😂😂😂 Jk

They said 1st party games will always be on Xbox day 1. They said Game Pass will be on Xbox. The following may be very naive, if so do tell me please. Let's imagine hypothetically that all 1st party Xbox games are later and eventually released on PlayStation or elsewhere - like 1y, 2y, depends on the game. To the question "Why do I even need an Xbox?" I reply: well, don't you want to play your favourite Xbox 1st party games as soon as possible? Wasn't that always the main reason for choosing a console over the other? To play the exclusive games asap? I really don't understand how the rumours and now confirmation that some games will be going to other platforms suddenly means every Xbox fan doesn't care anymore to play the games on the original release date. If that is really the case and for every Xbox 1st party the reaction is "meh, I can wait and play it later like 1 or 2 years from now" then yeah, you don't need an Xbox, I guess. Also, multiple times on this episode the tone was Xbox games "leaving" the platform - no! They will still be there, they are just going to be available elsewhere like 1-2y after original release. As a PC main I would never buy an Xbox console, but now they have the Xbox app on PC and Game Pass on PC as well and I've subscribed here and there to play games there - I would never pay money on console, now I did: more revenue for Xbox. Have a "I heard the Xboy cry wolf, but when I got to the business update even there was nothing to see here" kind of day.

About last night…

Michael

We bought a used one a year ago and I had the same issue as Matty, except I didn't have my feet on since the shoes only fit my wife.. still was struggling with it for like 10 minutes. =/

PluuusRyan

I’ll be purchasing these titles in my ps5 so that hopefully we will get MCC on PS5

Frederico Garbino

I feel you Cog. I'm not over the 49ers loss either. 😔

Two things: 1) The weirdest Last Stand-ism is that the commentators identify as "analysts". That's just laughable. Analysts read data ( that yes, often times comes in the form of news ) and makes inferences on that data to make it digestible to their client. Ya'll don't do that. You guys read no data nor do you guys have the training to know what do with said data if it were given to you. You guys are just gaming personalities that riff off the news. There's nothing wrong with that but what you guys are doing every week isn't "analysis". 2) It's weird to see you guys try and over complicate what Xbox said and instead insist on a more grandiose narrative. Everything is so much more dramatic than what there's evidence for - which once again is why you guys aren't analysts. In the minds of you guys, there's this civil war going on inside Xbox and Xbox has made up their minds about going third party but they're just trying to ease it in for customers. Or what if Xbox sees that they need more growth and sees there's a group of games that they could bring over they will generate them more revenue without angering the fan base? What if Xbox isn't committing to everything going to PlayStation today because they really don't know if that's where the industry will be in five to ten years? What if it really is that simple? Are there more games coming to PlayStation? Of course! Bring over Towerborne and other smaller titles. Who cares? Xbox was honest and straight up with you guys and yet you guys are acting like there's hidden meaning, like the Illuminati or something. They are never going to say "never" to Starfield coming to PlayStation or about any decision other to anyone, for the same exact reasons why PlayStation was never going to get a "COD will never leave PlayStation" out of Xbox. No business commits to never doing anything for the sake of the bottom line. If Xbox feels that going full party is the only way for the business to exist then they will do it. So will PlayStation and Nintendo. This isn't something you need to ask them nor should anyone expect anything different. Let's please be better.

Brandon

I still think Brad would make for a perfect third host.

NeO JD

The way the Insider "scoops" were overblown really reminds me of the situation around last years Playstation Showcase. That thing got hyped by multiple of the same sources as this "crazy phase 2 blowout", which obviously didn't turn out to be true at all.

ToiletDrummer

yeah, that's what I was thinking as well. Basically leak the most doom and gloom stuff to make the actual announcements feel soft in comparison. Sure is kind of a tinfoil take but I wouldn't put it past them.

ToiletDrummer

Hey Matty, If no one told you how to take the pelaton shoe off yet you have to twist it clockwise from the heel and it disconnects.

Daniel Navarro

Cog is hilarious, nothing really has changed aside from Phil saying five years until exclusives die down, gamepass only being at 34 million after conversion, etc 4 games coming to PS and this doesn’t mean COD btw Refusing to deny Starfield or Indiana Jones will eventually come out on PlayStation! Evading the question about physical…

Gonçalo Ferreira

As a PlayStation only player I think Helldivers is a wake up call for Sony and they will continue that with multiplayer games.

drew

How did they lie? It’s been known for a while that Gold accounts were converted into Game Pass core.

Knightsofray

It's kinda wild they just flat out loed about Gamepass numbers. Theu had to add Core to the total to get 34 million. Which means Gamepass hasn't grown at all. Tom Henderson had to get them to clarify. These people just lie all the time.

Jacob Lesperance

It’s not almost no growth, last hard numbers we had were 25 mil. That’s 33% growth in two years

Gabriel Baker

What do they mean the Gamepass numbers are a little soft, that's almost no growth in over 2 years, that would be so bad for any subscription service in their 6th (or 7th?) year. To me it clearly shows the majority of gamers have chosen to continue with the normal approach of buying games

Umberto

I think that was just Matt Booty misspeaking. I know exactly the moment you're talking about and remember Phil Spencer trying to speak up and correct him, but Matt just kept going.

Criterion

I like this format better

Edwin Garcia

It feels like Xbox used leakers to their advantage. I do agree that Starfield, Indi, etc. were being considered. Xbox wanted to make as much noise as possible to show why it’s not the best idea (yet). Leakers were left to deal with the fallout and were given the Farquaad treatment: ‘Some of you may die, but it’s a sacrifice I am willing to make.’ #DDRemains

Justspartan

Hey guys, You didn't touch on the Xbox gamepass thing when you were talking about the rumours of gamepass coming to playstation they said 'xbox gamepass will only be available on gamepass' But gamepass is already multiplatform since it's on PC too, so what exactly does that mean when they said Xbox gamepass is only available on Xbox? 🤔

AJ The Turtle UA GB

Xbox fans do the most amazing mental gymnastics.

Adam Barnes

As a good faith gesture playstation is giving xbox 4 who gives a shit games to match the xbox games. Those games are Sackboy a big adventure, concrete genie, dreams, and destruction all stars. Now everybody loses.

Grimm Carousel

Love this energy from the dukes. They’re both so optimistic at times which is nice but I feel like they can take it easy on Xbox. These last two podcasts they’ve shared critical but nuanced perspectives. Thanks for the great content boys.

Thursday-Lane

Angry Matty is fantastic lol

Master Rahl

Eh, sure. By then it really won’t matter to me. I think everything is gonna work out fine, personally.

Zeke the Plumber

It’s fine in that you can do nothing about it but sucks as an Xbox player

Marquis Johnson

Don’t bring that weak company shilling bs here

Marquis Johnson

I gotta give it to you boys I’m 30 minutes in off dat goose and y’all niggas standing on business. Good shit I agree 100 % with both of you a lot of mixed messaging and Intentionally vague messaging here imo! Shout out to that black queen Sarah bond she fine as hell boi I tell you what😮‍💨😮‍💨🤤

Big titty drinker

I feel like Xbox games are still going 3rd party in like 2 generations from now. The testing phase is real rn.

Hustle&Motiv8

Late Night Episode is always a treat. Gonna be a weird ass year for Xbox that's for sure.

Edward Fryrear

if we're measuring the "severity" of these rumors on a scale from 1 to 10 I'd argue that all of this started at a 4: Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves coming to PS5 and Switch. There were meltdowns at this point already but it was mostly contained. Then we went from 4 to 6 when Starfield became part of the rumors. Then we went to 8 when legacy Xbox games were questioned. And then ultimately we got to 10 when people started questioning whether Xbox would pull a Sega and feared for their digital libraries etc. Now we reverted back to a 5, which is four games coming over. The messaging left alot of room for that number to go up again though imo. But you know, at least it's not the 10 so I guess that's a perceived win now.

ToiletDrummer

It’s an experiment. If Hi-Fi Rush sells millions on other platforms, then yeah it will happen more often

Zeke the Plumber

I’m not sure why any Xbox fan would feel any different than last week. Phil and Co. continued the lack of clear communication regarding first party exclusives going to direct competitors. All this does for me is cement the fact that if these games sell well on PlayStation and Switch, Satya and the Microsoft execs will push forward with Starfield, Indy, Gears. Etc. going multi platform. Seems like all this podcast was, was an attempt to calm things down. They should’ve just ripped the band aid off and been clear for once.

ZG114

Yeah. That was "4 games for now,and we'll see about the future in the future" type of podcast.

Angel DeJesus

Genuinely confused why people are thinking the Business Update turned things around? From now on it seems a matter of “when” (not “if”) games will come to PlayStation. This felt like the beginning of the end of permanent exclusives. Which I personally don’t mind - but it’s weird people think they’ll just stop at these four games. Only a matter of time before Starfield and more are included. Alright - comment out of the way. Time to actually listen, lol!

Kazden Risk

After watching the Xbox podcast, my first reaction was 99 percent of the gaming commentary community ended up looking silly It’s fine. Everything is ok. Some games going multi-plat is fine.

Zeke the Plumber

SO MANY MUSTARD HEARTS!

Full Metal Sween

So happy that this came out the day of
