Constellation, Episode 62 | Remembering Akira Toriyama, Amusement Parks, Blind Spots, Bad Ideas

Constellation is back with a very special episode. This week, Colin has left the keys to the kingdom in the hands of crazy uncle Dagan while he’s away and is joined by LSM Executive Producer Dustin Furman, Defining Duke host MrMattyPlays, and Summon Sign host Brad Ellis. To kick things off, Dustin wants to look back at how the work of Akira Toriyama has impacted us after his unfortunate passing last week. Brad wonders how we feel about amusement parks and our best memories of going to them. Matty asks about our blind spots in life and the things we wish we knew more about. And finally, Dagan ponders our worst ideas and the catastrophic outcomes. This is a unique episode, so don’t miss it!

Fav episode of Constellation. Seriously, give Colin the day off more. Like way more. This felt so fresh.

Steve Bitto

Matty, I’ve pooped so many times in the woods during long runs - it’s become automatic exfiltrate squat mode. I know my younger self didn’t have the balls to perform at such a high level

Alec Davis

More constellation mix up please. I really don’t mean this offensively, but a little less Colin to give other (great) members of the team space to speak!

Owen

Great tribute gents. Akira is forever a legend. I hope he knew how much of an impact he had on the entire world across 3 generations.

Mr Worry

Lmao funniest shit ever

Damn Matty I had the exact same experience with the Mummy ride as a child. My mum thought it was a slow movie ride but it was actually fast, backwards, and pitch black...

Wesali

Glad to see Dagster running the show.

Jacob Lesperance

Dustin, Great America is in Illinois Maryland is Six Flags America

Chris Evans

Dog Defining Dookie is an all timer for me lmfaooooo. Shouts to Dagan for that one

Andrew Ceris

Matty and his defining dookies. 😄

NeO JD

This intro was absolute gold! Great episode. Might be nice to give Col a break some time and have the Daegster lead the line now and again.

Ross Stoddart

The Dagster 😎

Cyprus Davis

The fact that Dagans girlfriend gave him a cat as a gift TWICE is the most unhinged shit I’ve ever heard

c0bra_dog

Whoa, Dustin! For Today, huh? My band’s very first show was with them in 2006.

Colin Moriarty

One thing Slayer pits

Wilbert Galdamez

Matty, I was the same with books, and after reading The Way of Kings, it was so good it got me to read the next 2 in the series (each about another 1200 pages) and I'm currently on the fourth. This series is actually next level and it's got me to absolutely love High Fantasy as a genre, I will say - after finishing the first book, all I really wanted next was a game set in the Roshar Universe lmaooo

GaminGoob

As someone who's ridden X2 At six flags magic mountain,I can say it's an awesome roller coaster. Also as someone that's been on rise of the resistance at Disneyland, it's an amazing immersive ride that star wars fans would love

Bizy_Mix

I love that Dustin considers a mass of testosterone fueled men wildly pummeling each other to hard rock a "controlled risk" and skateboarding where you can choose what tricks you attempt to be an "open ended risk" 🤣

Zac

Dustin, you need to come on down to Cincinnati, and check out Kings Island. King Dominion's bigger sister. Get a night ride in the Beast (world's longest wooden coaster), grab some smurf ice-cream, and stay for the fireworks. If you are feeling coaster trip-y, add on Holiday World and Kentucky Kingdom to the trip. For me, as a kid I loved amusement parks as a kid, but was too afraid to ride any serious ride well into adulthood. Then pandemic hit, and amusement park videos and coaster enthusiast videos became a lockdown comfort food. Which pushed me to get over my fears. Now I'm approaching 150 coaster credits.

NinjaDC

Dagan is a great host! This was a fun, upbeat episode.

SweetBabyRay

Guys, awesome episode. No knock against Colin specifically, but I think this is a good case for letting one of the co-host chairs be open to a guest more frequently! I'm of the same generation as Brad/Dustin/Matty, but am also a father like Dagan, so i was relating to a lot of the feelings and anecdotes in this episode, especially the blindspots topic. Both my dad and my father-in-law are able to do a lot of handy work and are generally mechanically intelligent, but I've always struggled with it. No doubt, the internet gives us a gateway to knowledge in a way that was never possible before, but there's still the fear of sinking time, energy, money, damages, into something not handled correctly that gnaws at me all the time! Great discussions, really appreciate it.

PluuusRyan

Great episode ! Loved it

Sir Poops McGuffin

Cedar Point is one of my favorite amusement park experiences ever. Rode millennium force 3 times in a row and my wife grayed out after the big drop each time

Seany Mac

A fart is actually just an asshole talking shit behind your back.

PRETENTIEUX

Agree there is so much amazing music in every genre you want but that’s also the problem it’s hard for stuff to bubble to the top for everyone to hear as it’s all in it’s own space with an insane amount to compare with. But yeah loads of good music out there

Billy boob

Dustin that 6 flags you made reference to in Maryland is closer to DC than BMore and yea it’s ghetto as hell. I can say that since i grew up in that area

Hustle&Motiv8

Long Live the Chariot

Zack

Shook to hear Dagan name drop Ween. Love it!

Eric the human

Gotta push back HARD. The same way that games are the best they’ve ever been, music is the best it’s ever been. The caveat is that there’s also never been so much of it. You gotta look a little, but man, when your algos get synced up to your tastes, there’s a never-ending supply. Especially for metalheads.

Colin Moriarty

The LSM ALL STARS never miss. Love to learn more dusty lore, my sweet baby boy was a mosher , who would’ve thought

Mikey

Rad should double xp weekend and read a book about building a chair.

Benjamin Schultz

That’s “Muffin” to you good sir! 😂

The Devmeister

We need more episodes hosted by the Muffster

Fella

That entire trilogy holds so many great memories for me.

Manor002

Who's this Colin guy never heard of him.

Asique Alam

This episode was just pure good vibes.

Bogey

Dragonball Z Budokai will always be a special game. Regardless of quality of the game, it truly is impactful for all of us DBZ fans.

Christian

Dog your moms cousin is your first cousin once removed. Your great uncle is your moms uncle

Markeus

My favorite book is The Way of Kings, I’m so glad you decided to read it Matty! Hope you enjoy it.

Kristen Zwick

I believe I said Six Flags Great America but maybe I misspoke. -Dustin

Dustin Furman

Unless Dustin is talking about a different Six Flags park....it is Superman that suspends you while you face down. At Six Flags Great Adventure

Ryan Zimm

RIP Akira Toriyama

brody_low

Glad to see Dustin is a fellow thoosie

Kevin

Greatest intro ever.

Shawn Kelvey Jr
