Sacred Symbols+, Episode 237 | Introducing The Sacred Sales Saga

A few weeks ago, we launched The Sacred League here on Sacred Symbols+, but in reality, it's only half of a larger initiative I (Colin) have. You see, my intent is simple: To create repeatable, trackable content over months and years (in the spirit of some of the sports podcasts I listen to), so that we can follow trends, make fun bets, and compete with each other and the audience alike. To that end, I developed The Sacred Sales Saga. What is it? Well, this + subseries will come out each month, and will track the PSN sales charts as shared on the official, Sony-run PlayStation Blog. This data comes in the form of tables that I've folded down into more readable, interesting tables, tracking overall placement, trends, and more. The game, therefore, revolves around harnessing all of this minute information into something definitive. Each month, we'll craft our own Top 20 PlayStation 5 games downloaded lists, and then score it all the following month based on the real thing. At that point, we'll introduce our next predictions, and so on and so forth. Trust me when I say there's a lot of fun to be had here, and I hope you'll join us for this ride, one that -- like The Sacred League -- will never go to free feeds, and is exclusive to Last Stand's Patreon.

Sacred Symbols+, Episode 237 | Introducing The Sacred Sales Saga

Comments

Thanks. =)

Colin Moriarty

I'm loving this new show. I love hearing the sales numbers/top 20 each month. Glad it's back and in a new fun way.

Robert F Friemering

I think you're going to be surprised, but I'll leave it up to you.

Colin Moriarty

Excellent. =)

Colin Moriarty

Yes, we're working already on an easier way to get this info out there.

Colin Moriarty

Could there be tabs on the document with each of the lads' list for the month? This way, listeners won't have to write down or keep track of what each of the hosts says and they can visually compare how things line up.

Jack

Very much looking forward to this

Kurt Lewin

I'll keep an open mind on this one, but it already feels like it's going to be a bit too dry and stats based compared to other content to keep me entertained. Still, it's only one ep a month. As long as you don't start dedicating an episode a week to HBOs last of us like you've threatened, lol.

Mark Whittington

Looking forward to it! Cheers

Adam Romano

There will be plenty else for you, fear not.

Colin Moriarty

Thank you. <3

Colin Moriarty

You may be right. No offseasons, but maybe just more seasons generally.

Colin Moriarty

Thanks. =)

Colin Moriarty

Thank you!

Colin Moriarty

=)

Colin Moriarty

We're working on it. I'd say Season 1.

Colin Moriarty

Then this will not be for you.

Colin Moriarty

Why would it creep into a regular episode? That's weird feedback, since that happens with no episodes of +.

Colin Moriarty

We shall see!

Colin Moriarty

No.

Colin Moriarty

Yes. =)

Colin Moriarty

I'm gonna keep it going. I know what I'm doing!

Colin Moriarty

Thank you.

Colin Moriarty

Thanks!

Colin Moriarty

Could be. =)

Colin Moriarty

I’m happy for everyone that is excited for this, and I’m sure it’ll be a lot of fun for a lot of people. This just doesn’t sound interesting to listen to or watch, in my opinion. Just posting to represent a variety of feedback in the Patreon. Respect, cheers, and enjoy!

Adam Romano

Just want to say exceptional job anticipating unspoken needs with this contest. I appreciate your opinions, but I also want to hear the reality. Keep balancing fact with opinion and talking about it.

CHAZ

This is actually a great idea, because if there was an off-season it would also give people time to miss it.

Tonys_Always_Write

My only suggestion is to shorten the season. I think it’s likely to get stale by June. I think it would be more exciting if you did first to win three months. Otherwise there is a strong possibility that someone takes a large lead and then people aren’t inclined to listen

Brian Presley

It's good for everyone to play on PlayStation. =)

Colin Moriarty

LOL.

Colin Moriarty

Not everything will be for everyone. We're believers.

Colin Moriarty

Colin Moriarty

Really enjoy this idea. As a long time fantasy sports coach, I’m super excited for this! Keep up the great content, CDC!

Travis Terry

As someone who hasn't cared about sports in years and doesn't care to much about sales numbers I gotta say this is a great idea. I can't wait to see how you do the fan interaction side of this and seems like a fun idea to see how our favorite games are doing on playstation and see how bad the fans are at predictions

thefury4815

So whenever comes the month where TLOU Part 1 falls off the list… are we going to say the game…. Uncharted?

NotSkyWalker

Not a bad idea. Hopefully get the listeners involved sooner rather than later.

NeO JD

Totally agree on all accounts.

Jim Capron

Glad people in the comments are digging this, but I unfortunately have zero interest in a guessing game of the PSN charts each month. Would’ve much preferred a deep dive on game discussion similar to spoilercasts but for older titles. Industry interviews, cross duke episodes, mailbag are to me, so much more interesting. The game as it were, sounds fun for the community especially seeing it on paper/visualized but it really doesnt work in podcast form for me. Keeping track of peoples lists in audio form is tiresome and repetitive. Would be interested in seeing a poll on whether the larger audience enjoy these or not.

WhatDarrenPlays

As long as it is kept to a plus episode and doesn't creep onto SS proper then have fun dorks.

Grimm Carousel

I hope Blood and Teef charts that game is so much fun. Really surprisingly solid little action-platformer.

Noah Friscopp

Is there a way we could do this, as some sort of community engagement but not as a podcast?

Andrew Christensen

I’m interested to see how this goes after a few months. I think my favorite part is the differences between each lists and expectations for some games vs. others. If anything, keeping a closer eye on the sales will only strengthen the sacred slittas knowledge.

Mitchell Lundsberg

Colin this is great. I think you’ve hit on something very interesting. And yes I understand exactly what you are saying for instance when Dustin was discussing his first impression. I mean yes that is exactly this point. Please let’s keep this going even just with the audience if the co-hosts are not into it. I think you are correct maybe people not into sports just don’t see what is possible here. I think you hit on something providing these lists and data we could find long term trends that might be actually pretty revealing. Honestly this IMO is way, way, way more interesting than the Sacred League. I’ve listened to that episode a few times and I’m not sure if I quite understand what’s going on in that competition.

Zack E

I really dig this. It'll be really interesting going forward to see how the predictions start stacking up.

Reuben Barrett

This has me considering not buying physical games anymore, just to contribute to these numbers, lol. Love the idea!

Ben Scott

Very impressed with the sheet! Does it suggests Colin may be on the spectrum? Sure. But, aren’t we all? (My handwritten notes for Vita trophy hunting certainly implicates me.)

Jayce Tamulevich

That Disney game is definitely getting picked up by the casuals (I don't mean this as a pejorative btw). My wife actually asked me about it because her boss was talking about it and she had no idea what they were talking about (but she is vaguely familiar with stuff like Animal Crossing).

Josh Gamez

Sacred Oscars

indigoblue

I don't know guys... This one didn't really come off too interesting. Maybe some stakes need to be on the line, or something of the sort to have us, the audience, invested. I could totally be in the minority here, though. I'll keep listening, thanks for the hard work to entertain us.

Shadi Haddad

Dude, Dustin seeing that CoD gamertag was a great laugh I needed in these long work days. Keep it up!

Guns vs Kittens

That's up to them. =)

Colin Moriarty

Is there potentially anything in the works with the Dukes to do their own League style show? It would be beyond dope to have a cross-league champisionship each year.

Bambi_Cobblestone

I think everyone knows. Still run to reflect.

Colin Moriarty

Thank you.

Colin Moriarty

Thank you. We'll do that too, but this is better. <3

Colin Moriarty

It's weird, isn't it?

Colin Moriarty

No. =\

Colin Moriarty

LOL.

Colin Moriarty

It's all good!

Colin Moriarty

Thank you for your kind words.

Colin Moriarty

<3

Colin Moriarty

You can easily change your psn name now... just a FYI to anyone stuck with there 16yr old mind frame name

drivebyjoe

Colin Moriarty and spreadsheets are an unstoppable combo. Looking forward to this!

Jon Cordeiro

What. A. Name. This is so much more appealing than "E3 predictions." Really digging the meta game you're adding into SS+. Thanks for all you guys do! As a data analyst, this is very much in my world.

Jason Bolla

Why is colin always right???

larry Seitz

Sacred Audit!!!

Have you considered considering considerations considerately considerate

NEXT WE MUST HAVE THE SACRED TAX SEASON
