Sacred Symbols, Episode 235 | Our Most Anticipated Games of 2023

2022 is but a fleeting memory. Thus, as the calendar turns over, we thought it would be best to look ahead. As is our tradition, it's time for Sacred Symbols to talk about our most-anticipated games of the next 12 months. 2023 is shaping up to be a far, far stronger year than 2022, an especially bold proclamation considering we know virtually nothing about what's coming from either first or second party. Indeed, none of our 15 selections are PlayStation-published games, but -- naturally -- all of them are coming to PS5, PS4, or both. Without further ado, we present to you the upcoming adventures that've piqued our interest the most.

Sacred Symbols, Episode 235 | Our Most Anticipated Games of 2023

Comments

Maybe Ubisoft is merging the development of Avatar and Skull & Bones to be renamed as "Avatarrrrrrrr, Me Matey". (I'll see myself out)

Kevin Cooper

Hope you're wrong, but maybe.

Colin Moriarty

We'll see soon enough!

Colin Moriarty

I've heard great things.

Colin Moriarty

Burning Shores.

Michael

Atomic heart has "broken at launch and disappointing" written all over it. Looks way too good to be true, but I'd love to be proven wrong.

Keith Golfer

Having played the demo way back when it was released (2018?), I really feel like there's no possibility for Atomic Heart to be anything other than outstanding or awful. I suspect it's a patchwork of cool art, that's going to live or die based on whether their gameplay implementation can coalesce these elements. We'll see, but I'm pessimistic to be honest.

TheSissyOfFremont

Just a correction. Resident Evil 4 on Quest 2 is the best way to play the game today. Carry on.

Ryan Zimm

Yeah man, gonna be great.

Colin Moriarty

Yes, looks nice.

Colin Moriarty

Good list.

Colin Moriarty

I don't get hyped for much but I absolutely cannot wait to lose myself in Sea of Stars (I backed it on Kickstarter the minute I read the description on Kickstarter) for likely weeks on end like RPGs tend to do lol.

Josh Gamez

Excellent discussion. 2023 looks insane so far. One of my most anticipated games is Last Faith, a pixel art Castlevania type game.

Tefo

My 5 are Hogwarts, Jedi survivor, Ff16, Spiderman 2, Re4 remake. Looking forward to hearing more talk about games and hopefully spoliercasts with 2023 being pretty loaded.

Piston Pants

Indeed. =)

Colin Moriarty

It's a drink.

Colin Moriarty

LOL.

Colin Moriarty

Yeah, I'd consider it second party.

Colin Moriarty

Colin you're dead on with ini creates and yhact club. Pixel art is certainly an 'artificial challenge'. I gotta add so is chiptune!

lazer_josh

Coffee - I forgot what this does.

Chris Dell

Coffee is like toothpaste, it’s a product which serves an important function every day, and is nice as far is it goes, but to be a connoisseur? I don’t get it personally.

Rich Price

I'll add Stellar Blade is kind-of 2nd party now that PlayStation is publishing it, right? So, two 1st and one 2nd party games slated firmly for 2023 thus far.... I definitely think we will get a State of Play or something in the early goings of next year. Well, I at least hope that is the case.
