Colin's Boar's Head Hitman disguise killed me.

bonus comment: when 9/11 happened i was a line cook at sonic drive-in, and majority of the time i would be in charge of the the inventory shipments and what not. so for a couple weeks straight, just for the lolz, i took a sharpie and marked out "french" on all the cases of frozen fries, and wrote in above it "freedom." 😄😄😄

food hack: if you want the absolute best re-heated pizza, you need to invest in a toaster oven. it doesn't matter the style of pizza. new york, chicago, detroit, hand tossed brick oven, regardless, all styles come out of the toaster oven perfect. remember to preheat it, and the trick is to use the toast setting so it's cooking both the top and bottom.

Two comments: 1. This is not the first NBA to be given away on PS+. I know because I have never purchased one but tried it out through that. I think it was 2k17? Makes sense in June with the NBA finals 2. I appreciate you putting out a Forespoken spoilercast but I also hope someone will cover bigger games that do come out if anyone in the LSM family plays it (Jedi Survivor mainly)

Why does Colin keep mispronouncing "Concord"? ;)

I've been meaning to add a bit of salt to my cocktails, it's supposed to add more dimension to the flavor. Makes sense for coffee too

Phew. There was definitely some salt in this episode. I'm not sure why it'd be at all surprising to hear of peoples reaction to the showcase. I'd personally give it a C. I think the hosts keep talking about how the B is because of the games that were announced. But I don't think that tells the whole story. Games get announced all the time in press releases. This was supposed to be something where it moved the needle forward for Sony. This is evidenced by Sacred Symbols dedicating and entire show to predicting what the Showcase would have and stirring our imaginations wildly. So when I'm saying the show is a C, it's not just because of the games show but also the manner in which they were shown. I do remember being around in the dark days of PlayStation and certainly there's been much worse showcases. But I don't think you, as an audience, need to take all of that into consideration when watching a modern day PlayStation presentation. You rate it based upon your own gut feeling about how the presentation came off and/or if your more or less excited that before. For me, though some games looked cool, it really didn't do anything special that couldn't have just been done in a state of play or something completely separate. So, an average grade is warranted.

To Dustin, 16gigs has been the standard recommended on PC for awhile, starting about 2016-2017 or so. Now that PS5 and Xbox Series X are out though, PC requirements are starting to climb again. Now 16 gigs is a hard minimum for most games, and if you're below 8 gigs of vram, you're in for a struggle. 12 gigs of vram and 24+ gigs of main ram is the ideal level for most of the high end games brought from consoles now, if you want to run them at console resolutions and fidelity. This is largely why I'm not doing much PC gaming outside Steamdeck now.

You're right that Media Molecule not releasing anything made Playstation's library harsher, but the other thing that made their library harsher was them shuttering Studio Japan. PS3's library had a lot of games from Studio Japan that softened the Playstation image, like Tokyo Jungle and Puppeteer. With Pixel Opus gone, MM on life support, and Studio Japan gone, what do they have now? Mostly just Asobi? I'm turning my Sony consoles on less and less. To me, Insomniac, Guerilla, Housemarque, and Sucker Punch are about the only first party studios keeping me around.

People forget how bad things were for Playstation back in the day

Born-Blind

I recall Colin's debate with Adam Boyes on PS Store curation and still support Adam's position. As a consumer I don't want a random cabal of "experts" curating what I may purchase. I'm fully capable of deciding for myself what games are worth my hard earned dollar. If other consumers don't do their due diligence on a product, that's on them. For Playstation, the more products on digital shelves, the better. Shovelware only angers the hardest of hardcores and truly doesn't harm Sony's image or bottom line.

Douglas Morreale

lmao sorry Dustin about the Punching Up Slitterhead reference

Cun

It crossed my mind that the Amazon box in the background was the one I had sent, I didn't think we'd ever find out lol enjoy that apron at your summer cookouts Colin! Or when impersonating a publix employee...

Austin DuBose

1000% agree with you Colin. People don’t know that they really don’t want The Colin Show. If this was The Colin Show, you would have gotten marked as an Xbox fanboy for not loving God of War Ragnarok enough. We want your objective ass self man.

Jeff Caseres

Would it be a terrible idea for a t-shirt to have a picture of gollum from the game and underneath it just says “apology.jpeg”

Cameron

Whoa, getting called out for not purchasing and supporting the Vita is something lol Love you guys.

Mark Corlson

About Rift Apart on PC, we don't know the requirements yet but it should be noted rhat PS5 tier SSDs have been available since around the PS5 launch. They've gotten comedically cheaper since then so its entirely possible they are required to play.

Timmy Tolkien is shifting in his urn.

LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOO

Pyo

Colin, Naughty Dog’s third game might just be the last of us part 2 for PC

Tom James

Colin I'll take 1/2 a pound of Boar's peppermill turkey, 1/2 a pound of Lando Lakes American Cheese, and a quarter pound of Muenster Cheese.

Surge!

Of all the talk about the show case there was one big banger missing that is a flag ship of a big PS showcase...COD

BM

I wish Colin kept it on

Damon Ransom

Hey Dustin or Ben how do I link my account from patron to sacred symbols?

Frank G.

Jim Ryan's nickname should change from Cryin Jim to Mr. Charisma after seeing him on that showcase, am I right.

Piston Pants

01:58:40 to hear Colin's impression of a Fable 1 NPC

PRETENTIEUX

For me personally, I don't rate/grade showcases. I use percentages. I simply look at how many games were shown (excluding VR, remasters and dlc/expansions) and how many im interested in playing out of the games that were shown. 26 games were shown. 5 are of interest to me. 19% which becomes the lowest rated showcase for me this generation with the Xbox Games Showcase 2022 now being second at 22% (5 out of 23). I do adjust the percentages throughout the generation for every showcase. It comes down to if I played AND completed the games I was interested in at the time of the respective showcase.

peter42O

A “c” is a passing grade, and that is what the showcase was due to CGI/Release dates/lack of first party roadmap, but a handful of interesting games. C is passing but nothing to write home about, much like that showcase lol.

Justin Latham

I thought the showcase was pretty good. Sure, it lacked gameplay and first-party titles, however, I still think there's a lot to look forward to with Sony's future lineup. I walked away excited about a small handful of games. I would've loved to see more, but I don't think it was a terrible showcase by any means.

Will_Gear

I'd would pay $500 for a handheld that could natively run PS4 games, classics, and stream PS5

Sumojoe118

Cuban espresso is my go-to. I drink one at least every other day from the place next door to my job. Specifically a Cortadito with no sugar.

PRETENTIEUX

Thank you! I only use a small amount of salt, few shakes from a salt shaker, and it comes out so delicious. It's also a good tip for anyone trying to cut down on sugar 🤷‍♂️

The showcase had a palpable lack of any PlayStation first party games that we didn't already know about. With the exception of Marathon. But the bigger issue is that everyone KNOWS that the Sony first party studios are all working on AAA stuff. This bleeds over to PSVR2, as well. We can assume that Sony first party is working on something for PSVR2, but they haven't announced a single thing. The only thing I can figure is that they plan on having individual events for their heavy-hitter games or another showcase where they let loose later.

Sam Dunham

I wonder if that was someone in the games "journalism" field hacking his printer and sending him a personal message.

Sam Dunham

I take issue with Dustin's take on the coffee thing. Any coffee can be bitter for various reasons. Dark roast just has a different flavor than blonde roast. Except if we're talking Starbucks. Their coffee is just burnt. But the bitterness doesn't really have anything to do with the roast. Lighter roast has more caffeine. So there's that. All of that said, it only takes a tiny pinch of salt to mellow out coffee. Alton Brown does it, so it's fine with me. And it doesn't make dark roast coffee taste like blonde roast coffee. It makes it taste like mellow dark roast coffee. Also, Dunkin' is trash. Try some Tchibo. :)

Sam Dunham

Chris, I heard "Horchata Coldbrew," and immediately went "Oooh." That sounds delicious, especially since I'm making a coffee while hearing this.

Colin with the CANCELLED paper isn't in the thumbnail?!! Missed opportunity

So much angst and pain it’s so wack

Fries are typically thinner than chips. Most takeaways/takeouts do chips with the exception of places like McDonalds, which does fries.
