The thing about FF games, even the ones that are below average FF games are great RPGs. FF8's setting and plot is actually kind of awesome. It's sins are primarily in progression. Grinding experience and leveling? Absolutely pointless. Enemies level with you, so you won't get any stronger by doing that. The only way to get stronger in relation to the enemies is by utterly abusing the draw system and sucking 99 of every spell from every enemy you encounter then junctioning them. So it shifts progression from grinding experience from battles, to just grinding Draws from a few battles.

I believe the cloud hybrid is gonna be textures on cloud so you can save space. It mite even be optional to use the cloud features

So I just downloaded Payday 3 on PC Game Pass and wow, it’s a terrible version. Unlike the Steam version, the PCGP version has no shader pre-compile step and no DX12 support (so no DLSS, etc). It stutters like crazy. Xbox really needs to do something about PCGP/Windows Store version of games being released totally gimped. This has happened numerous times

FF8 has one of the best unique stories and the characters really grow on you as you play. They are easy to root for in a lot of ways and the buildup throughout the game as things get more intense is just excellent. I'm glad you're enjoying it, Matty. I had the luxury of playing it as a late teen when it came out.

He doesn't call himself lord acquisition for nothing...I agree, way to trigger happy on the publisher purchases. I hope if they try this again the FTC will actually push back

I would play the ever living shit out of an Apex Legends single player/story. Make it Co-op that would be crazy fun too. Perhaps I oughtta just try Titan Fall 2 but the character specializations (implementation of the abilities) MAKE that battle royale what it is. Such a fun game.

First off, I love listening to you guys. I'm not much of an XBox fan, but I still listen to you guys weekly because you have such great chemistry and don't fanboy so hard that you turn away fans of the other consoles. I'm going to come across as negative because I'm kinda bummed by COG's reaction to some news, but I still really enjoy your content, and I don't want to sound overly harsh even though I probably do sound too harsh here. Kind of shocked that COG is so approving of Microsoft buying out 1/3 of their direct console competition after having just bought 2 of the biggest third party publishers in the last 3 years. If that isn't monopolistic behavior, I don't know what is. I don't know if he was just playing devil's advocate and didn't do a good job of making it clear that he didn't approve of Microsoft buying out Nintendo, but based on what he said in the podcast, it definitely sounded like he straight up wants Microsoft to buy Nintendo. Also at 27:00, was COG using Embracer as an example for why Microsoft buying Nintendo would be a good thing? Embracer being the company that is shutting down studios they bought because they bought too much all at once? Thank you to Matty for giving some pushback on COG on this one because this is a straight up scary email leak, and for COG to be supportive of this idea is scary.

WARNING: LONG POST. :) Microsoft/Spencer wanting to acquire Nintendo has been a 20+ year thing so I don't know why this would be a surprise to anyone. Nintendo would have to be willing to sell which barring a Wii U level disaster with Switch 2 isn't going to happen. I love Spencer's ambition because this is what you want the leader to have and be like. You don't want a pansy being the leader. Personally, I don't care about Nintendo and as an Xbox fan, I wouldn't want them but I understand why Microsoft/Spencer would want to acquire them because they are that unattainable goal. As for WB, I really wanted to see Microsoft acquire them because post Gotham Knights and the upcoming potentially disaster known as Suicide Squad, I think Microsoft could have saved some of these studios because they wouldn't be required to go in the live service direction. However, without owning the DC licenses, passing on them for Bethesda was the far better decision all around. Thankfully, Microsoft gave Starfield two more years because I can only imagine the disaster it would have been if it was released in November 2021. Props to you Matty for getting it right years ago and im one of the few who never questioned you on Starfield being 2021 because following you for years, I know that you're a hardcore Bethesda fan and wouldn't say this if you didn't have very solid proof. I agree with both of you in regards to those in gaming media and fanboys/extremists NEVER EVER admitting when they were wrong which in turn proves those people should never ever be taken seriously. Regarding the PS5 reveal, Phil wasn't wrong. It's just that Halo Infinite was delayed which obviously, Phil wasn't expecting when he wrote that email. But he made the right decision by delaying Halo Infinite. Better off having next to nothing (Gears Tactics was a launch title) than a potential Redfall situation at launch. Also, launch isn't as important as the overall long term life cycle. I bought Xbox Series X close to launch and is my primary despite knowing that I wouldn't have a first party exclusive until December 2021 with Halo Infinite. I agree with Phil in regards to Microsoft's 2022 lineup (As Dusk Falls, Deathloop port and Pentiment) not having a major AAA first party title but at the same time, what options did he have? If anything, Halo Infinite should have been delayed to November 2022 but at that time, Phil didn't know that he was going to see Starfield and Redfall get delayed out of 2022. If he did, im 100% certain that Phil would have delayed Halo Infinite another year because why wouldn't he? With that said, how it played out, Microsoft simply had to ride out 2022 because they were simply stuck. There was no game that they could have gotten for late 2022 that would have made any difference. I'm also someone who prefers delays because if your game isn't ready, don't release it as it will only do you more harm than good and if you're a live service game that doesn't have any content for a year or so, then yeah, delay your game because while you may get 10m players at launch, once that three month window goes, people leave and go elsewhere if you don't have any new content being delivered on a consistent basis.

Xbox and PlayStation are new money trying to flex. Nintendo has that old money is just drinking sweat tea and stacking bread

Listening to you guys celebrate profits from Xbox just to have to take the L now that it’s been corrected to reveal PlayStations profits are double what Xbox’s is 😂 But you won’t address this L you’ll just hold the Line

It warmed my cold heart to hear the Dukes praising Astro's Playroom. That's a very special game to me as a lifelong PlayStation fan.

The Titanfall 2 updates are probably giving me false hope. I absolutely adore that game and still hold on to a sliver of hope that we get another sequel one day
