Sacred Symbols+, Episode 338 | Spider-Man (2018) Review Discussion and Spoilercast
Added 2023-10-11 16:00:09 +0000 UTCBelieve it or not, the very first non-mainline episode of Sacred Symbols back in September of 2018 was dedicated to Insomniac's smash-hit PS4-turned-PS5-and-PC game Spider-Man. We were only 10 or so episodes into the main show, Sacred+ didn't even remotely exist yet, and that episode quietly lives here on Patreon still, yes, but buried in the annals of Last Stand past. As such, and in commemoration of Spider-Man 2's imminent launch on PlayStation 5, I (Colin) thought I'd sit down with my brother Dagan -- a newbie to all things Insomniac Spider-Man -- for a trio of episodes of +. This is the first of the bunch, a deep dive into the original game that spawned some meaty DLC packs (which we'll cover in episode two) and an interstitial game that launched alongside PlayStation 5 (which we'll cover in episode three). That makes October a very webby month, which I guess makes some sense, all things considered. So take a trip to NYC with us, where we find a 20-something Peter Parker in yet another sticky situation...

In the mainline comics, despite MJ’s aunt being a neighbour of Aunt May, Gwen Stacy was always more “The Girl Next Door”. Whereas MJ was the party girl that became a supermodel and actress. That being said the reactions to her interpretation in this game is stupid.

2023-10-11 19:21:42 +0000 UTCThere is a Spider-Man story where he accidentally kills someone. He then trains himself to pull his punches and temper his super-strength. He doesn’t really operate at full power when fighting humans. What makes Peter so great is that while he’s fighting these bad guys, he is also trying to help them! Like Dagan says, Peter will not go down to the villains level. In fact, he is trying to pull them out of that dark place in many cases. Edit: and just for clarification- the burglar that Tobey’s Spider-Man attacks in the warehouse… he is afraid of Peter and backs up against an open window. Peter sees the guy is about to trip and he moves to stop him from falling, but the man trips and falls to his death.

Aunt Mary gets shot instead and he loses his shit. No jokes just beat downs on anyone involved. He even goes to the prison where Kingpin is and whoops his ass and threatens to kill him and also threatenes every prisoner there to stay away from his family. Spidey snaps sometimes but it's usually only shown in the comics. Also a couple of what ifs he turns evil too. Also, MJ was a super model in the comics for a little while, probably why people are mad.
