I did have a theory (before flashback chapters even started existing) that they had an almost kiss/a moment of a lot of tension before their fallout so when Ro suggested they hook up that was the reason she thought that could’ve happened

2025-06-16 23:47:14 +0000 UTCAs a huge fan of angst, finding a balance between it and fluff is a delicate one that is reliant on the trust you have in your story and readers. For me, knowing that there is going to be an HEA (happily ever after) is enough of a balm to calm the temporary anxiety that hits when the story takes a dramatic turn. Seeing Ro and Isi grow individually and together through the flashbacks (eg. the way they interacted when they were really close, Isi's growing dissatisfaction with the band foreshadowing her current burnout, or Ro discovering how her self-destructive behaviors and attitude affect partners and friends/family alike, etc) makes them truly human, or close to it. Not all fights end with a break or a slap; some end with both parties violently sobbing while holding each other because they regret what they said/did to the other person, and that's what makes a love story worth reading. Sorry for making this so long!
