I like the dynamic of your reactions the dude on the left is often wrong and sometimes clueless but every blue moon he happens to be right (not in this video tho the upper yard is the same place as the sacred island its only one piece of Earth in the sky...) the guy on the right is often aware what's going on but sometimes he misses whole dialogue that the dude on the left seems to remember. The combination a strangely entertaining

Also thinking about it they didn't have a boat to get to Upper Yard by ocean. Only that waver that Conis dad was driving that only Nami can use so getting to the Upper Yard through the ocean at this point without Merry is not possible.

They explained why Luffy, Usopp, and Sanji had to take the route they did. It's because of the milky roads. You get on the milky roads by going through Gate #2 (Where Conis guided them) Usopp even wanted to take a route like Nami by just going through the ocean but they wouldnt be able to get on the milky roads by going from the outside. Also Upper Yard is a pretty big place. Where Nami was is not close to the sacrificial alter where Chopper is now. EDIT** Episode 157 @ 18:45 is where it's explained.
