With the ussop speech to robin about “captains permission to leave the crew”... I feel like ussop had self regret at that time about the fight with Luffy and leaving the crew. That he should’ve listened and believed in what the captain said and to trust him. So he’s been beating himself inside for it realising what he did was wrong. That’s how i interpreted it tho

Just remember that Luffy never does anything for himself. Yeah his actions can be really reckless, its cause he doesn't need to think about anything when it comes to rescuing people, thats why he has his friends, they plan while he makes the decisions essentially. They knew what they signed up for, Usopp would've seen why Luffy made that decision If he wasn't so emotionally invested into the ship that Kaya gave them. They all want to continue on their adventure but they can't do that with Merry Go.
