When I first watched OP and was binging it, I skipped through some of these parts with Luffy running from the marines because I knew there's no way Luffy is going to get caught by some no name dude. Watching along with you guys makes those parts much less frustrating lol. The shit picks itself back up again real soon. Stay safe!

After this arc switch to the manga. Hell, switch now. I don't know what that would do to your content. But the one piece anime is one of the worst manga adaptations out there after this arc (it begins around here though). I honestly believe other Shonen mangaka started to make the decision for their properties to be aired in a seasonal presentation after growing up watching one piece and watching the quality decline so massively over time. My guess is toei decided that one piece is so popular that it doesn't matter if they try or not. People will watch regardless. That being said they still put effort into animating certain scenes at this point into the story. And a few in the next arcs but the decline definitely begins here.

Its not what they 'think' will cut time. They cut out filler. Yes even 'canon' arcs one piece anime adds tons of filler too

Your right, I didnt notice how bad the pacing was until I caught up a few years ago. After I caught up I decided to just start reading the manga, it was definitely the right decision. Ive re-watched some arcs using One Pace, it was so much better. I completely recommend the switch.

It does drag out a bit. The anime was trying to pad out the episodes a bit so that it wouldn't catch up with the manga too quickly, but that slowness will clear up soon, no worries. This is just something you'll have to get used to because going forward the pacing will drag

If you guys don't like the pacing now. You not gonna like the pacing of the future arc that is coming. This is consider already a good pacing with every new things we see. And we got some few information of hints as well.

Even in the manga, some of the things are stretched out. So imagine in anime, they stretchiing it even more in order put 1-2 chapters of manga in just one episode. You should be used to it by now, one piece’s slow pacing works for its favor because they give ttime to develop the world and the characters. The only thing that I hate about how oda does things is the when he tries to switch things around many times instead of finishing one thing before proceeding to the next one.

The pacing is definitely slowed down a lot here but the island also is much bigger than you think it is. From all the zoomed out perspectives and doodles and maps it looks like you should faster going through but you really don't. Each part of this is like a full ass island town in size. Also I strongly don't recommend One Pace on your first time watching. Yes they streamline the process but the site is literally made to just speed through the show cutting just about anything out that they think will cut time.

One Piece is notorious for the slow pace, but I didn't think it was a problem (probably because I binged episodes). The alternative to watching full episodes is One Pace which I wouldn't recommend using until you've watched the series once the "slow" way or are reading the manga (http://onepace.net/about); all of the arc titles and sections are all labelled (plus, it's an incomplete library but I'd say 70-80% is there).
