Luffy is intuitive in combat and sees patterns in battle and when he’s trying to understand something when he has no or little details. About Luffy mopping Blueno, it ain't that he somehow got a crazy power all of a sudden. In Iceburgs mansion the only attack that Blueno blocked from Luffy was a simple kick and since he dodged all of his other attacks he definitely couldn't know how powerful Luffy really is. Lucci however tanked Luffys Gatling with ease, that just goes to show you that he is a different animal.

Yea it was a bit weird for me when watching one piece for the first time but zoro was right you can see slowly the straw hat are getting stronger after every island they've been to.

While I don't agree with everything you said, I also feel it's a bit spoilery the way you're describing and giving info on stuff they haven't seen.

I've read somewhere that Oda doesn't actually like training arcs. Apparently they train on the boat in between arcs or something. IMHO, training arcs aren't necessary anyway since they are explained in the story and Oda reveals things at the perfect timings. Also, those shoes were bright AF :P

You’re right about the progression of strength. Mainly with luffy, he gets stronger the more motivated he is and along with experience. Oda doesn’t really show how characters get to certain heights in terms of strength but he does provide enough explanations for it to make sense to us
