Also many people miss this but Blackbeard talks about Haki at Jaya. When he first asks about Luffy bounty and Luffy says 30million. Tothat Blackbeard responds not to lie. At that moment we feel like he too is underestimating Luffy like others. But when he sees new bounty poster he says that 30mil for someone with Luffy's haki was not appropriate or something like that. Most of the subtitles translated haki as ambition in Jaya arc.

We don't specifically know when Mihawk became warlord but I think it was after Shanks lost his arm. He became warlord so that while fighting these pirate groups he might come accross someone to have a good fight.

Few things from this episode which many one piece fans might know but want to point out. Whitebeard talks about duels between Shanks and Mihawk and when we see them meet for the first time Shanks asks whether Mihawk came to challenge him to which he denies. We can assume that Shanks was on par with Mihawk in sword fight. Since Mihawk was said to be top swordsman and he wouldn't want to fight someone on daily duels if the other is not on par. After Shanks lost an arm ten years ago Mihawk sort of lost his rival and got board until he meets Zoro i think. He saw potential and ambition in Zoro which made him wait for the day of their clash.

BTW Shanks isn't old generation, he is the current generation. Whitebeard, Garp, Sengoku are the old generation. Luffy & some others are next generation

Yea whitebeard has fleets that is why he got division commanders. I dont know if you notice, marco is the first div commander then ace is the second. It is great they get to see more of shanks and whitebeard, because Yonkos are the real deal pirates in one piece, along with their commanders. But yea, you can also argue that mihawk is somewhat in that level as well because he is shanks’ rival.

I feel u Lycan with shows being predictable and stuff after you've seen so many. A lot of writers fall into the same patterns when they decide to kill off characters or do anything major and it just sorta feels lame because you feel like you've seen that same thing a million times. I love the way that Oda introduces concepts and slowly builds on them. Some anime it's just: new season, new concept introduced and they just dump all the info about how it works. A lot of the stuff in One Piece you start to learn about before you even realize that it's something new.
