The main character saitama himself is a parody of shonen mc’s, the world & characters outside of him are very serious but also funny, ppl look at the title ‘one punch man’ & forget about everything going on outside of saitama winning fights so easily

Just like the Office is a parody of working in an office, One Punch Man is a parody of super heroes. The Office isn't parodying any specific office, just office work environment in general, and in the same way OPM is just parodying super hero stories in general, not any specific show. I don't think you guys need to worry about not getting any jokes because you're not deep enough, just remember it's a comedy with amazing action, but it's still a comedy first and foremost. That's really it, just enjoy the ride.

its not paroding something specific but just shonen in general. Most heroes or protags have to do hard training and have entire training arcs, Saitama just did 100 push ups, 100 situps, and ran 10km a day and became a god. Most heroes or protags have a goal like being the next Hokage, getting their real bodies back, getting revenge for a loved one, rescuing their friends, ect but Saitama is just a hero for fun. Saitama is the opposite of the typical hero in alot of ways, even story wise when the hero arrives on scene or finally comes face to face with the main villian thats a really hype moment and you know the fires about to start. When Saitama shows up its one punch and over, it may be a cool punch but you know hes gonna win and doesnt quite hit the same. All the other chars in the show follow the "typical" rules especially Genos but Saitama is definitely supposed to be a joke. Even the name One Punch Man is kinda silly and seems like the first clue you shouldnt take him too serious. This is just what I got from the show, maybe im wrong and read too much into it idk.

I feel like It's more of like the Scream movie franchise in a way. Being that it's basically a slasher parody yet, it's in its own way serious. In my opinion the Scream franchise was funny in the beginning but that's me. And I never read the manga nor commented about it being a parody anime, this is just what I think about when people try to say it's a parody.
