They only did so because it's the recommended pattern for this string of episodes; not ending on 405 and it's major cliffhanger lessens the impact. Breezing through it to the next arc is not as impactful. You really do need a bit of a breather after this climactic showdown on Sabaody.

Though he was losing steam he managed to fend him off enough such that Kizaru couldn't go bother the SH's. Though you'd have to wonder what would have happened if the OG Kuma hadn't stepped in the way he did.

G8 arc hype was for the interactions between crew members and how their dynamics play out. It was never about fights. They didn't know that and went in expecting some great fight which didn't come disappointing them. It was a filler in which writers understood the characters completely and wrote them accordingly. I for one thought it was canon and went to search it in manga so as to read it in chapter form. That is when I found it was a filler. The characters were that in-character as if Oda wrote that arc. In other fillers there were situations where they seem acting out of character which fans can identify.

One thing that I enjoyed is how yall were predicting what would happen. This arc specifically I was paying attention. Hearing you all say what you thought would happen and then Oda's like "nah playa, lemme switch it up a bit" and now to get to this ending to where it's a complete different outcome than expected, it's interesting. That's what Oda's great at. A lot of shonens, actually, a lot of anime or we can go further, a lot of stories have a specific way of doing things, they have patterns. Arcs ago yall caught the patterns but Oda flipped the script so now what you thought you knew would have to change. It's brilliant. I was there with you when I read this chapter. Oda's too dope of a writer.

but that's Luffy's ability, turning people on his side. When you try doing good for others, others do good for you. and if you do bad, people will turn on you. Moria took shadows of those people so they helped Luffy out. Crocodile was ass to people so it was natural there have to be someone turn on him. Enel comparison was awesome as Enel thought he is invincible God because of His devil fruit and well low and behold he got whipped because of a devil fruit

When you really think about it the crew has gotten lucky ever since they entered the Grand Line. If Nico Robin never turned on Crocodile...Luffy would be dead! Luffy just happened to have the perfect devil fruit to counter Enel. If those pirates never stopped Luffy and gave him 100 shadows...Moria wins! This shows how weak they are when luck or help from others is not there.

The reason for Monster Point being used was so there was no question of how weak the Strawhats are!

After a while Luffy couldn't even fight. Just pleading Kuma to stop. It hits hard seeing Luffy in desperation and crying like that. I like how Oda showed not only gradual increase in power by strawhats but also how hard fighting world powers became as we traveled along grandline. In east blue Luffy almost mopped everyone. Even Arlong was one shotted when Luffy became serious. At Arabastha Luffy was able to save Robin and King after fighting Croc. At Ennis Lobby he couldn't move after fight. By the time they reached thriller bark, entire crew was needed to defeat Oars. It might not be fair comparision since he is zombie but still who knows what level opponents they face in new world? Moria was telling the truth. Even though strawhats are powerful, new world is on another level.

Oda took a one month break after this chapter. Could you imagine that? Dropping this much fire, this big a cliffhanger, and then, "Peace, y'all, see you in October!"

I think the point of monster chopper was to show that they all really went all out because of how bad the situation was and they still got mopped.
