VRV just uses the subs from Crunchyroll as far as I can tell, and Funimation's subs are almost verbatim with some slight differences, like Ace calling Garp "gramps" and Whitebeard "old man" which I know a lot of people would have preferred, but then when there was japanese text showing the island names it didn't even bother to translate that. We just have to let it be with the subs and just let them get clarification on things as they learn more.
