OK case scenario; Garp saves Ace, resulting in him leaving the marines, resulting in much chaos and stuff Garp usually would be able to prevent from inside the marines. Ace getting furious over Garp, letting him live and causing hundreds and thousands to die and pirates to run wild because Garp aren't in the Marines anymore. I don't know, Ace was kinda suicidal and if he got to hear something that would beneficial the greater good he might just would wanna sacrifice himself.

It was her country, she needed their help. I don’t wanna discredit what she did but she was the princess of that country. Imo I’m taking Barto over both Vivi and Bon Clay, he’s way more of an asset and he’s obviously gonna be loyal to the end as well.

Lycan literally forgot everything Vivi did in the story. She literally put her life on the line when the Strawhats were in the Cage. She was fighting the Gators even though she was totally outmatched by them. What did Bon Chan do when he encountered Magellan when Luffy was fighting him, he turned his tail and run. I like both the characters but their is a big difference between Vivi and Bon Chan, and Vivi is like 5 spots higher for me. People like who they like, I just don't like the disrespect on all the accomplishments Vivi did. It would be like you forgetting Bon Chan Sacrificing himself the two times he did.

u just seem like a huge tool, ace was a dope character who everyone loved. imagine saying fuck ace like you just did. yeah ace fucked up, and akainu is a evil bitch that will get what he deserve sooner than later. but you are being hard on ace, they all fought to save him and blackbeard is the real one responsible for why they even went to risk their lives to save ace considering blackbeard is the one that captured ace. Just like literally every fucking character in one piece and every show ever, Ace has flaws like any other character. but fuck ace? nah fuck you for not understanding ace's amazing character . ace made a big mistake walking back to akainu, but thats that. makes his character even more relatable since whitebeard was everything to him, but ace was hot headed [pun intended] and that was the death of him

Garp did let Luffy save him. Ace still had a chance to live. But he stuck to his ideals which was defending his pops instead of heading home. That’s the Ace we knew, he fought anyone who said any about his fathers

Different characters do different things, Robin was going to sacrifice herself to save the Straw Hats even if it meant that the world would be destroyed by the ancient weapons. With the same consequences, Garp probably wouldn't have done the same for Ace. That being said, Garp probably thought there was a big chance that Ace would be saved by Whitebeard. Neither side was sure who would win the war at the start. All the way up until the time that Ace got free, Garp was probably hoping Whitebeard would save Ace so that he can lower the consequences as much as possible. Once Ace got free, Garp didn't try to recapture him, and he probably thought that he would be able to escape just fine, and he was right, Ace could've escaped just fine. Once Akainu taunted Ace and he tried to kill Luffy, causing Ace to sacrifice himself to save Luffy, it was too late for Garp to do anything. At that point, he did try to step in and kill Akainu. Garp didn't want Ace to die for the "greater good" or anything, but he believed in Whitebeard's strength and was willing to let Whitebeard rescue Ace before he tried anything himself. There's no way to tell if this is all true or not, but it seems like the most likely scenario.

Oda saying that Vivi is a Strawhat is different from him saying "like Akainu" because one is about the canon facts of the story he is writing, and the other is how much you do or don't like something. A character being a member of a the crew is objective. How much you like a character is subjective. You can say you don't like Vivi being a Strawhat, but it doesn't change that she is one if Oda says so.

I might be one of the few that likes Akainu, I really don't care he killed Ace, to me Ace was just some cool fire dude that was barely in the story to care for, before Impel Down he had just been in about 4-5eps, and the majority of time of his saga he spent it crying and lamenting, he got capture because of his own stubbornness and got killed because a "Yo Daddy" joke, completely wasting the lives of his comrades and WB, who died, almost got Luffy killed, and also Luffy lost a lot of his life span trying to get to him, so yeah, FUCK ACE.
