Naruto had 220 episodes, Shippuden had 500 episodes, and Boruto so far has 230 episodes, so 950 total... so One Piece being just past episode 1000 isn't really all that different. Although if you cut the filler out of Naruto I feel like it's probably more like 700 but that's still a huge episode count on it's own.

Naruto anime might be bigger than One Piece anime in the US but One Piece is massive all across the world. Even the French President has tweeted about One Piece before lol. People always say the "Big 3" or whatever but One Piece isn't just a bit more popular... Go watch one of those "Top Selling Manga" videos where they show the bars growing over 20 years. It's honestly mind blowing I'm sure you've read it before but One Piece has outsold Batman lifetime comic sales. Oda is literally in the top 10 authors of all time by sales. He's on his way to outselling Harry Potter and Dr. Seuss. Only 10 authors between him and fucking Shakespeare bruh. It's a wild thing to say but its facts

Oda has said in a interview or Q&A that the strawhat he’s sees himself the most in is Sanji. Also somewhat of nami’s design is based on and inspired by his wife, so knowing that, makes oda’s answer make even more sense. Lol
