That’s why HxH is so different from conventional shounen. Sometimes the resolution of the arc has little to do with a protagonist all or nothing fight. Humanity may be the world’s biggest threat, greater than an all powerful ant, an ant that can’t do nothing against those evil roots that humanity has cultivated for centuries. The menace sometimes isn’t power alone like meruem, but the hatred people have against one another and different species that made us evolve so much in weaponry.

You have to remember, Radiation poisoning is the most inhumane weapon, we as humans have ever created. This kills any living thing at an atomic level and you can't really do much after high level exposure. It just goes with the Ant Arc theme. Also, I find it interesting how this is one of the very few times I've seen anime talk about atomic bomb and radiation poisoning.

Gyro was explained before, he was the leader of that cartel that was secretly behind NGL, he hated the world and wanted to garner power to kill all humans because his life was miserable and made a family of people that were also messed up and forgotten by society. Also, rather than raid (although funny, I know it was a joke) it was the radiation from the bomb, kind of like the radiation of a nuke (but Netero was certainly very aware of this). Also, when you watch episode 135, PLEASE stay watching after the credits, there is something SUPER important.at the end.

The way they die is exactly what makes this series better than others. It's not weak or lite, but meaningful. None of that shallow asspull.
