Family should have each others back but if you are a police officer and one of your members commits a crime and you let them go what are the consequences for them that they can do whatever they want and get away with it no matter what I love ace so much but I wouldn't ask my family member to give up his Job who he is and risk prison or execution for my choices that's not fair

@amenz you good man I slightly lean towards "Garp should do something" but arguments are valid for or against Garps actions or lack thereof. My observation (to this episode): Garp is just torn between his duty as a Marine and being a Guardian to Ace. The fact he's a polarizing dude known as a 'Hero of the Marines' he's got the weight of being the positive face of the brand. Whatever backstory there is to that adds to part of why he's not around Ace and Luffy enough to try and convince them to be marines. I do wonder though how it would be had Luffy been in Aces spot would he have done more to stop it or would it have been the same.

I understand your point tho Amenz but think about this, Garp is the hero of the marines and that basically puts him on a pedestal that says his actions and loyalty to the WG is the absolute height of justice and if you’re a criminal (which basically pirates are) they are consequences that ties into the decisions made. I 100% agree that family over everything but In that moment Garp basically saying that he wanted both Ace and Luffy to live proper lives without danger but they chose the life that they are living rn and the consequence that follows are on them. (Not bashing your thoughts and your opinions, I respect them heavily. Just giving you something to ponder). I could go more in depth with that but that would make me have to spoil some stuff which I don’t want at all

Yeah it’s your opinion. But Garp became a marine to help the world im sure. If Garp were to help ace the world would be in panic because THE GARP. The hero of the marines is helping Gol D rogers Son escape the death penalty. That would make the people lose trust in the marines. And Whitebeard told ace not to go after Blackbeard since the beginning. But he decided to not listen and got clapped by Blackbeard. So he got himself in that situation.

Yup everyone can have their own opinions but the only thing I will say luffy's upbringing is one thing but for Ace he couldn't constantly be around him to actually raise him because that could potentially lead someone to discover who Ace really is.
