That’s why dio instantly got angry when Jonathan told him to swear on the honour of his dead father, instead of lying he yelled about how his father had no honour which is what gave his evil deeds away

Araki has now made him synonymous with the JoJo name, you will now inherently think about what a good guy he was... so that his descendants don't HAVE TO BE. Characters can get more and more morally grey and you'll instinctively think "You know, this dude is related Jonathan so he's gotta be a good guy right?"
