One Piece: Episode 499 [RAW]

I think people were saying that the last two episodes were filler, not the whole arc. You guys misunderstood. 😅

Yeah not all of this flash back is filler, and personally i enjoyed it as a whole didn’t mind the filler honestly, just to see the interaction between brothers is amazing so idk why people are over reacting over this episodes

You guys are great reactors - paying attention to the details, invested in the story, great analysis, etc. I feel like we'll all rock with you two regardless so watch the way you guys want...no need to go off or get annoyed just because 3 or 4 people said to skip....lol

The problem is 497, 498, and 499 are Anime Canon. They were never in the Manga. Nagori is a Anime only character. I do agree that watching these should happen because their really good. However their is something that breaks continuity. In the manga Luffy trains with Sabo and Ace to get stronger. In this Anime Canon they throw in the Nagori character to train Luffy. I kind of lowers Luffy a bit because he needed another character to train him, were in the manga he did it all by himself.

Yeah I enjoyed these when I watched them, and I am enjoying them now. Correction to you guys some of this is Anime Canon. Specifically 497,498, and 499. The episodes specifically with Nagori, he was never in the Manga, and the reason I don't like it, is it makes it seem like Luffy needed Nagori to train when he was a kid. When in the Manga Luffy did it all by himself by being with Ace and Sabo. It kind of undermines that natural talent that Luffy has. It does flow into the rest of the Flashback well and is a really good extra added story. However some of the stuff doesn't make sense, like Luffy, Ace and Sabo saying their not brothers anymore, I don't actually see them doing that even if their mad at each other.

I personally have seen every single episode of One Piece filler and all. I dont think of this as filler its just a flashback.

This 100%. I love the flashback. Just these two episodes are filler. Which isn’t a bad thing.

These episodes are great, I don't know what these people who don't like it are actually interested in. Also I can just imagine someone on Amenz phone "why do you have a calculator app that takes up 30 GB of space?..."

Personally for me this flashback was one of the most favourite things! I watched it with interest even for the first time! Seeing luffy as a child and how his brothers influenced his life was so good!

ASL meeting the old man is technically filler, however its still super sick and just adds more to the overall flashback

My brother showed me this ark first, when I did not even know that One Piece existed. And that's how I started binge watching the show :D

this is the only i actual enjoyed we literally get to see luffy back story

I didn't even know about fillers when I started watching one piece so I watched everything. Imma be honest and say I thought the beginning was kind of boring and I felt like it dragged a bit, but it ended up picking up the pace. Imo I think I was just still going through the adrenaline of Marineford so I couldn't appreciate it as much, but seeing other reactors and you guys experience it has allowed me to enjoy this arc a lot more. Also, I completely thought you all wouldn't enjoy this arc cus you guys usually don't seem like the slower pace stuff. Glad I was wrong. 😅

The first time I watched One Piece there was a couple of Chibi episodes of filler before this so when I got to this arc I assumed it was another filler. So I skipped it. I only realized it wasn't filler like 2-3 years later and then went back and watched this. Pissed my self off that I skipped cannon episodes cause of the design. Seeing all the new characters also made me think it was filler. For the record now I like the episodes but also kind of resent them if that makes sense.

Any one piece fan that says they don't like the back stories is suspect period. It is literally the reason you get so emotionally involved. People saying they're not ace fans so they skipped is an excuse because it plays a pivotal role in understanding luffys emotional connections with his bros and what drives him to be how he is. Those fans need to go back to watching DragonBall and Baki if they're only interested in the action scenes smh

Like Thriller Bark, this arc has the tough task of being sandwiched in between two major arcs/events, I’m guessing that’s why parts of the Fanbase thumbs their nose to all the post-war stuff.

Naguri isnt a canon character, This flashback is mostly canon but the anime added some stuff to make it longer. Everything that happened with Naguri is filler I wouldnt count on seeing him again unless its in more anime filler.

First time i watched one piece i didn't skip any episodes, i saw everything single one 🔥🔥, don't care if its considered filler or whatever, DD just watch the episodes you guys want and keep up the awesome reactions 💪💪

My first time watching this I skipped this part because I was so anxious for Luffy to get back with the crew. Also One Piece was my first major Anime...i didn't grow up on Pokemon or DBZ. I hadn't even watched Bleach or Naruto at the time. I guess you could say my only experience with an ongoing Anime was Fairy Tail. I only came back to this part after a certain Arc and realized what I missed.

I actually enjoyed this flashback the first time I watched it, I’m actually glad you both seem to be enjoying it too. Loved seeing how Luffy, Ace, and Sabo grow up.

When i first saw this 1. I thought they were canon 2. I loved it and with Ace dying it made it that much more interesting. I was 18 at the time. Watch all of one One Piece and enjoy the glorious ride. Keep pumping out that fire, been here since episode 33, hyped for 500+. Keep it going guys!

Not liking ace is perfectly fine. No one is forced to like any character. Feel u (not ace tho) but I find it weird skipping cannon stuff. How would u understand the story.

I actually skipped this flashback my first time thru, Im not a huge Ace fan, I dont hate him but I dont love him like everyone seems to so his backstory wasnt something i was super interested in. I was more eager to get back to Luffy and see if/how he gets back together with his crew. Once i caught up i ended up going back and watching it and really enjoyed it overall, imo the first half is pretty boring but the end of the flashback is good.

idk how ppl hate on this flashback! its funny as hell and interesting!!
