The moon is in all of the authors works. It was in the manga B. Ichi but as Soul Eater was more popular, its mostly know from that. So its a dope Easter egg

It’s been stated a couple of times that he “doesn’t seem human”. While it’s true that this doesn’t seem like a good ending of a season, it’s the fact that the arc after Captain Hague’s death has a lot of action that could go on for 20+ more episodes, so that’s a good place to stop lowkey
