I agree with you guys. This is my 2nd time through he story and I remembered/thought that he died freeing the slaves of mariejois, but I forgot about the story of Koala. It's a bummer that he didn't go out in a grand fashion like I feel he deserved.

the best way i can possible sum up to how fisher tiger may have felt would be imagine for example a cop discriminated against you everyday trying to get you to react but you ignored them.. one day your with the love of your life and they discriminated against you both and because you loved her and didn't mind what happened to you but couldn't stand her being hurt decided to go in and knock him out. reacting as they always wanted you to do so as a result, the cops try arresting you and in the process of you resisting they killed your wife and wasn't punish for it. later you get out of prison trying to move past that event but now that particular cop and his gang that you knocked out tries to hurt you and your people again and now your on the ground from a gunshot womb from them. would you ask the cops to call the ambulance before you die? this is a Hypothetical scenario. hopefully that will give you a little idea of how he felt at the end.

Tiger's death was great man. Not every death has to be some crazy shit. Some people get done in crappy ways. If every death and moment is perfect then things start to feel contrived. Think what you want tho >__>

Hachi's character in Arlong Park was never that evil. You never really saw him do anything crazy himself, and VS the Straw Hats he just saw them as another Pirate Crew that was attacking them so he fought them. You said his character in Arlong Park doesn't make sense early in the episode so maybe you understand why Hachi went with Arlong now after seeing the rest

Yes that is pride and it happened in real life. If you have seen the movie “hidden life” about this austrian farmer during ww2. He refused to serve the german army and swear an oath to hitler that lead the nazis to imprison him and be executed. The nazis were going to pardon him if he signs the paper swearing his oath to hitler and germany but his pride doesn’t want to. His lawyer gave him a piece of paper, and all he needs is to sign it to save himself from execution. His wife even tried to talk to him into just signing the paper and even their village’s leader just so the nazi wouldn’t execute him. But signing a piece of paper even when his friends told him that it’s just a paper, and it doesn’t mean he is nazi, what important is what’s in his heart. But it was still too hard for him. He could have sign the paper and not get executed but still decided not to because his beliefs and pride is too much.

Best part of this for me is the creation of Arlong. We thought of him as pure evil back in Arlong Park but it really wasn't that simple, in his mind he could really justify that he was the good guy. And Namis village probably never thought that even though Fishmen torment their small island, overall it's Humans that torment Fishmen.

I actually like how they portrayed Fisher Tigers death and this will become very important so keep your eyes open. He is such a powerful character told towards the very end of his life and was told beautifully , because he even though he has his demons and hated humans, he still believed in Otohime’s beliefs and ideals to bring peace between the humans and fish-men, but he knew it couldn’t been him to bring Otohime’s ideals forward because of his hatred towards humans, he knew it had to be the next generation, someone like Koala who has seen that Fish-men are good and that somebody in the future can put the stop to the endless cycle of hatred, and yes, you could say that he is contradicting himself and has too much pride in him but we don’t know how much he suffered and how he was treated as a slave of the Celestial Dragons to have that much hatred towards humans, but all I gotta say is that he is a powerful character that definitely brings the theme of this arc to a whole new level, including Otohime too!

Life isn’t black and white, Fisher Tiger knew what was right, but it’s hard to just drop your inner feelings( what he calls his demon) you’re developed over the course of your living. It’s hard for him to simply accept humans at the end of the day when the whole time he’s only ever seen their darkness, and his life ended because he put his trust in humans. That’s why he keeps calling his true feelings darkness, since he wants to stop the spreading of that feeling to others. I think calling it “pride” is a little bit of an overstatement. In fisher tiger’s whole life he hasn’t once received a good deed from humans, it’s hard for anyone to accept the blood of people you’ve seen the worst from in your whole life(his time as a captive under the celestial dragon. This last point I want to compare it is kinda risqué, so if anybody gets offended I’ll remove it. Basically it’s like a slave back in the 1800s having only ever known the hatred and abuse of white people, then being on the verge of death and being told that the only blood that can save you is that of a slave owner. Honestly that’s why I love one piece so much, it covers so many dark themes, but because it’s a shonen and we spend most of the time traveling with the strawhats the world feels like laughter, sunshine, and rainbows. And then other times we’re thrown into this dark, scary, and disturbing world. I love one piece so much, because if it wasn’t a shonen it would be such a dark anime, but the shonen part is also what makes it good, because it manages to make a perfect swirl of light hearted and darker tones.

Fisher Tiger is one of the best characters and backstories in the show. An admirable hero that wrestled with and ultimately died to the dark-side within him. While it would have been "cool" for him to renounce that demon and take the blood, it's better this way. A reminder that the power of hatred can drive a person to death.
