Honestly if they have breasts (the women have pretty big ones in this series) they're definitely a girl. Otherwise they're probably men, unless they're old or not teenagers you should always be able to tell. Only time when I remember Togashi not following that rule was in YuYu Hakusho when Yusuke checked a women to see if they had balls and the demon was actually trans.
